Very rarely are Democrats in office to serve the people — more accurately, they’re there to serve themselves. There’s no better example of this than the recent reports that show that the politicians who are consistently pushing to erase student loan debt are the same people who have mountains of it.
According to the Daily Caller, 13 Democrats in Congress pushing for student loan forgiveness have debts that range from $15,000 to $300,000. I’m sure you can guess who they are even without telling you, but here they are anyway:
This includes New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who owes up to $50,000 worth and has repeatedly tweeted about the issue, and also Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who owes up to $100,000 and has called canceling student debt “a racial justice issue.”
New York Rep. Grace Meng, who along with other Democrats in March demanded Biden forgive student loans “to address racial and economic equity issues,” disclosed in 2021 that her spouse owes up to $250,000 in educational debt.
…
Members who have backed debt cancellation while reporting student loans for themselves includes Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, California Reps. Jimmy Gomez and Nanette Barragan, Pennsylvania Rep. Brendan Boyle, Connecticut Rep. Jahana Hayes, Florida Rep. Darren Soto and Texas Rep. Veronica Escobar.
In 2021, Omar reported she owes $50,000 to Nelnet loan services. Georgia Rep. Niema Williams has a spouse that owes $250,000 to Navient and College Foundation.
As you can see, this move to abolish student debt isn’t necessarily an altruistic move by Democrats, but a way to relieve themselves of the debt they accrued while attending university.
This “debt forgiveness” isn’t what it sounds like. The debt collectors that are owed these monies aren’t just going to suddenly shrug the debt off. They expect to be paid and these Democrats are attempting to get you, the taxpayer, to pay it for them. Meaning they get to rack up all the debt in the world while you, a regular American with your own debts in an economy that is inflating at the speed of a blue hedgehog, will have to bite their bullet for them.
I think Ron DeSantis had a pretty excellent bit of wisdom on this matter.

Clearly, higher education did nothing for some of these Congress members as they seem to know very little about how economies and markets work. In fact, whatever they learned there hasn’t exactly been helpful to anyone but themselves.
