Someone’s going to the gulag.

Chinese state-run media said the actual quiet part out loud when it accidentally posted instructions from on high on how to report on the Ukraine/Russia conflict to social media.

According to Fox News, Beijing News’s social media account posted now-deleted instructions to Twitter noting that no posts are to go up that are unfavorable to Russia or have pro-Western content.

“From now on, for Ukraine-related topics, post them on Weibo. All post on Shimian first and then on our major account to promote Shimian. Don’t post anything against Russia or pro-west. Let me review your words before posting,” read a translation of the tweet.

Perhaps not unsurprising as China is Russia’s banker, but it would appear that the media wants to stay very friendly to Russia because it too has a territory it wants to claim as its own; Taiwan. Fox News pointed out that Ming Jinwei, senior editor at Xinhua News Agency, effectively exposed that China has near-future plans for Taiwan and needs Russia’s support when these plans happen:

Ming Jinwei, senior editor at Xinhua News Agency, wrote in his WeChat blog about how his outlet needed to walk a tight line on its Ukraine coverage, noting that China “has to back Russia up with emotional and moral support while refraining from treading on the toes of the United States and European Union.”

“In the future, China will also need Russia’s understanding and support when wrestling with America to solve the Taiwan issue once and for all,” his post read. Ming said that it “doesn’t hurt” to use moderately pro-Russia language.

As Mike Miller previously wrote, China has been eyeing Taiwan for some time. The only thing standing between China taking the country for itself is the United States, but as Putin is showing, President Joe Biden isn’t proving to be much of a threat, and taking Ukraine may be as easy as taking candy from a baby.

If that is the case, China could begin making very real moves to seize Taiwan for itself under a floundering and weak Biden administration. In fact, the Biden administration has already signaled that it’s unwilling to even challenge China on its narrative that Taiwan belongs to the CCP.

Currently, the iron is hot for dictators looking to expand their borders and at least, for now, Putin seems ready to strike it. However, if Biden continues to show incompetence and weakness, then the invasion of Taiwan is likely not that far away.
