AmazonSmile is a charity platform that allows online shoppers to add donations to specific charities through their Amazon purchases. Black Lives Matter is one of those charities that you can add money to, but it would appear that the shady nature of Black Lives Matter’s handling of money has caught up to it, and Amazon has suspended the group.

According to the New York Post, Black Lives Matter failed to comply with the requirements of “several” states and as such, Amazon was forced to suspend them.

“States have rules for nonprofits, and organizations participating in AmazonSmile need to meet those rules,” said an Amazon spokesperson. “Unfortunately this organization fell out of compliance with the rules in several states, so we’ve had to temporarily suspend them from the program until they come into compliance.”

The Post reported that Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF) received more than $65 million in donations from an organization called Thousand Currents, which manages assets from grassroots nonprofit organizations. The issue is that BLMGNF failed to report where any of that money went.

Several states, including California where the organization is based, have revoked the organization’s ability to collect charitable donations, and California’s Justice Department warned its leaders that they would be “personally liable” for any delinquency fees and fines.

It would appear that BLMGNF is hiding something. According to the Post they finally released their federal tax filing, but some manipulation of the filing took place:

On Feb. 11, BLMGNF released its long-overdue federal tax filing, but also changed its accounting period from a calendar year to a fiscal year. The filing shows no contributions or grants during the January-to-June reporting period, and the group likely has another year to file its return for the remainder of 2020.

As Jeff Charles previously reported, BLMGNF appears to be a collection of red flags and unethical practices. It’s had no discernable leader for months, and at least two board members are refusing to say who controls its $60 million bankrolls. In fact, those involved with it seem to be distancing themselves from it:

However, the other two executive members have not bothered to comment on the matter. “The two remaining BLM board members, Shalomyah Bowers and Raymond Howard, did not return numerous requests for comment asking who has been in charge of BLM and its money since Cullors left the charity in May,” the Examiner reported.

Howard seems to be trying to conceal his involvement with the BLM global organization. The Examiner explained that his LinkedIn profile “stated that he is the director of operations for ‘An International Social Justice Organization,’ and that he modified his page after the news outlet reached out for comment.

So the question is, where is all that money going and why are the people in charge of the charity not reporting where the donations are going? Amazon’s suspension of the charity is just the tip of the iceberg, and there are apparently a lot of unanswered legal questions hanging in the air that none of the people still involved in it want to answer.

Odd that one of the most powerful political organizations seen in this country suddenly seems to have now one manning the ship while it sits on a hefty pile of cash. You would think that such an organization would have people tripping over themselves to be a part of its leadership yet those who are still a part of its leadership are pretending they’re not associated.

It’s likely that investigations are going to happen soon and we’ll get more answers, but as many have likely predicted, BLM was a scam from the start and it could only stay under wraps for so long.
