New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was one of the elected politicians cheerleading the “defund the police” movement, and as these defunded police departments continue to result in skyrocketing crime rates, AOC is doing what AOC does best, and that’s to concoct a world where reality is whatever she wants it to be.
Apparently, the fear that you could be assaulted, robbed, raped, or murdered is just a fair bit of “hysteria” from you, dear American.
“We are seeing these headlines about percentage increases,” Ocasio-Cortez said while talking with New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman. “Now, I want to say that any amount of harm is unacceptable and too much, but I also want to make sure that this hysteria, you know, that this doesn’t drive a hysteria and that we look at these numbers in context so that we can make responsible decisions about what to allocate in that context.”

How hysterical are you? According to Fox News, AOC thinks you’re hysterical over a 53.2 percent year-to-date shooing incident increase and a 13.3 percent year-to-date murder increase…and that’s just New York City.
In AOC’s fantasy world, everything she ever backed was 100 percent effective and right. If you’re feeling unsafe and worried that crime waves will affect you, then you need to just calm down. More importantly, stop trying to spread the narrative that defunding the police was a bad idea. It was a great idea because fewer police make people safer.
And pay no attention to the fact that AOC made it possible to increase spending for her own police protection as journalist Glenn Greenwald pointed out.
AOC is mocking ordinary people as "hysterical" who are afraid of violent crime in their neighborhood: people who, unlike her, don't have reams of private security.
Yet she just acted to ensure $2 billion more in spending on the police that protects her: https://t.co/Kc1BDwd5O2

Protection for she, but not for thee.
In my honest opinion, in AOC’s heart of hearts, she knows you’re not being hysterical any more than she is for wanting more police protection for herself. She knows that the “defund” position she backed was the wrong one, but now she’s in too deep. If she was wrong, then the Democrats are wrong, and if the Democrats are wrong about this, then what else are they wrong about?
It’s a kernel of thought she and the Democrats can’t afford to let take root in the mind of the public. So, instead, she’s going to continue to quietly allow for safety and privileges to heaped upon herself as you suffer. She believes she can openly say the things she says because she believes you’re stupid and/or ignorant enough not to get it.
To be sure, the media will run defense for her and not breathe a word of it out of both fear and loyalty. Her dedicated fans, loyalists, and simps will go to war with anyone who points out the huckster behind the curtain, convincing themselves that she can actually do no wrong.
And for a time, she’ll probably not suffer one iota for her helping to bring about abject suffering to Americans, but over time these transgressions she constantly heaps on the country are going to be hard to ignore. The rug Democrats sweep things she does under is only so big. Rest assured, there will come a time when AOC becomes too hated and someone will come along that will be able to show the people that she’s linked directly to their suffering while she sits in comfort and luxury.
On that day, the best AOC can hope for is a book deal, because she’ll be out of a job.
