California Governor Gavin Newsom destroyed California’s economy, the lives of millions of Californians, and now that he’s facing a very real and mounting recall threat, he’s mounting a defense by reversing the policies that have hurt the people of his state.
There’s no question that he should be recalled. Anyone who fails so miserably at their job in the private sector would be fired immediately. While this may be the government we’re talking about, Newsom’s position should work the same way.
Few have failed more completely than Newsom, and so it would behoove other leaders to see his example, reject it, and agree with the people that his time in office is up. However, this is clearly not the case.
It would appear that President Joe Biden is taking Newsom’s side according to the Daily Wire:
In a tweet Wednesday morning, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that President Joe Biden “opposes any effort” to remove Newsom from office, despite questions over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
“President Biden opposes efforts to recall California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), the White House said Tuesday, as a push to do so picks up steam among the governor’s critics,” according to The Hill.
“In addition to sharing a commitment to a range of issues with @GavinNewsom from addressing the climate crisis to getting the pandemic under control, @POTUS clearly opposes any effort to recall @GavinNewsom,” Psaki tweeted.
Psaki was asked whether Biden would weigh in on Newsom’s side Tuesday and, as is common during White House briefings now, Psaki said she would circle back with reporters once she had a definitive answer from the president.
The bottom line is that the leader of the federal government is taking the side of a state leader who has effectively sunk his state into poverty with unnecessary and ineffective measures that qualified as draconian. Hundreds of thousands out of work, thousands of businesses have gone under, depression, suicide, missed funerals, and delinquent bills due to a lack of paychecks have made California such a hell hole that it’s seen a huge chunk of its citizens flee the state for greener pastures.
Crime has spiked, sickness has run rampant including COVID-19, and California’s leadership continues to issue these damaging lockdown measures all while failing to abide by them themselves.
Yet, despite these immense failures, Biden is taking the side of Newsom.
Biden is taking the side of failure. He’s taking the side of harm to the American people, the destruction of its businesses, and the corruption of its system.
Biden liked to claim throughout his campaign that he was on the side of the American people, but what we’re clearly seeing is him continuously hurting them. Be it the damage done by the cessation of construction on the Keystone XL Pipeline or the discontinued border wall and lax border security, Biden is making it clear that when it comes to the American people, party and ideology comes first.
Not you. Them.
Biden continues to show us that his administration is a problem for America. His continued interference is business, his policy based on spite for the man who was in the White House before him, and now this adherence to party over people, even when members of his party fail so completely that it should be used an example of how not to govern, is proof positive that neither he, nor his party, should be in charge of these United States.
The midterms are going to be necessary to first rob Biden and the Democrats of their ability to affect the people of the United States so completely, but in the meantime, widdling away at his allies will suffice.
Recall Gavin Newsom and begin healing California.
