The confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court is sucking up a lot of headline space across the entire media spectrum. It’s for good reason. A Supreme Court justice can alter the future of the United States in ways that few others in the nation can.

The purpose of a Justice of the Supreme Court is to hold up any piece of legislation presented to them against the Constitution and, if they’re compatible, rule if the law can exist or not. The Constitution, the highest legal document in the land, has always been a guiding light for the nation, keeping its people protected from power-hungry people and schemes that would upset their liberties.

For Democrats, the Constitution is a thorn in their side. Their der wille zur macht is consistently thwarted by the stopping power of the document laid down by men far smarter and wiser than they are.

For the left, they found that the Constitution is something they can’t defeat. Even after decades of eroding the American people’s will to support it, Americans are still reluctant to toss it into the scrap heap. Democrats may as well be attempting to destroy a mountain by carving at it with a spoon.

The best they can do is attempt to manipulate it, and convince people that it can be interpreted in ways that perhaps people didn’t consider before. They attempt to find gaps in the Constitution’s reasoning, argue over comma placements, attempt to translate what the founders would have meant in today’s day and age, etc.

In order to do that, they must appoint Justices who will do this very thing when possible. The Justices have a constructionalist philosophy. Their method is to be presented with legislation and proceed to find a way to make it legal. This is why even unconstitutional laws such as the Affordable Care Act managed to pass through the Supreme Court. Justice Roberts found a way to make it happen by reasoning that the fee for not buying into the socialistic program was actually a tax, and thus Obamacare was born.

It was a great victory for Democrats and a sour reminder of just how important putting the right justices in place is.

For Democrats, Barrett is far from the kind of person they want on the Supreme Court. She’s a textualist, meaning she won’t be interpreting legislation and attempting to make laws fit. If they’re presented to her and they don’t fit within the boundaries of the Constitution, she’ll rule against it.

In short, she’s not an activist judge and the left can’t stand her for it.

This is why you see them fighting so hard to make Barrett seem like a dangerous person to put on the bench. As the New York Post editorial board wrote on Monday, the lies that Barrett will be attacking established laws have been circulated far and wide despite the fact that those doing the attacking in Washington know that they’re lying:

The Democrats, one after another, claimed that confirming Barrett would result in ObamaCare being overturned when the court takes it up Nov. 10, with Americans dying as a result.

It’s plainly false: Several conservative justices clearly don’t buy the arguments made for striking down the law in this case. And Barrett, based on her overall philosophy, is likely to agree with them.

Plus, Republicans are universally in favor of keeping protections for those with pre-existing conditions and have vowed to put it into law if ObamaCare does get overturned.

Yet Sen. Corey “Spartacus” Booker (D-NJ) still insisted Republicans are out “to ensure tens of millions of people lose their health care.” Veep-nominee Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) claimed that “135 million Americans with pre-existing conditions” would lose their health care. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.): “Health-care coverage for millions of Americans is at stake.” Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hi.): The lives of Americans with pre-existing conditions “are what’s at stake.”

All of it shameless posturing, utterly contrary to fact — and they all know it.

As I wrote on Monday, there’s very little the Democrats can do to stop Barrett’s confirmation. At this point, they’re uselessly floundering and flailing their talking points around in order to make themselves seem like they’re fighting the good fight against a woman who will use her position to hurt people. It’s all performance art meant to generate short internet clips that will make them look good to a woefully uninformed and mislead populace.

She won’t hurt people. She’ll do her job as she’s always done and make sure that the law of the land is kept safe.

Deep behind it all, however, is the fact that Democrats are lying about Barrett and dragging her through the mud because they don’t like her. She’s not one of them. She’s going to make it harder to subvert the American people and have their way. Their ability to increase in power has been staunched and they hate her for it.

And that’s fine. If it upsets the people who would rule over you and I and have their way with the country, then their anger is as revealing as it is pleasurable to see.
