You wouldn’t think you’d hear right-leaning talking points from a died-in-the-wool Democrat television host like Chris Matthews, but that’s exactly what we got.

During one of his rants, Matthews began lighting into the idea of socialism of all things and arguing with this fellow hosts about what kind of socialism might be coming our way if Sen. Bernie Sanders gets the W in the upcoming elections according to the Daily Wire:

“I have my views on the word ‘socialist,’ and I’ll be glad to share them with you in private and they go back to the early 1950s. I have an attitude about them, I remember the Cold War, I have an attitude toward Castro,” Matthews contined. “I believe if Castro and the reds had won the Cold War there would have been executions in Central Park and I might have been one of the ones getting executed and certain other people would be there cheering, OK?”

“So I have a problem with people who took the other side,” Matthews continued. “I don’t know who Bernie supports over these years. I don’t know what he means by ‘socialism.’”

Fellow MSNBC host Chris Hayes attempted to reassure Matthews that the kind of socialism Sanders wants to bring in is the kind seen in Denmark, but Matthews didn’t seem convinced.

“Are you sure? How do you know who — did he tell you that?” asked Matthews.

“Well, that’s what he says and what his agenda calls for, right? He’s not calling for — I mean —” responded Hayes.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let’s see. Let’s figure that one out,” Matthews fired back.

It gets better.

Matthews laid down the simple truth. He knows socialism is popular, but he’s seen its effets in various aspects, and it clearly doesn’t work.

In fact, in Matthews’s exact words, “it doesn’t frickin’ work.”

This is an interesting take from Matthews, though whether or not he knows it, he’s closer to the truth than the rest of the hosts are. Socialism clearly doesn’t work as has been exhibited multiple times throughout history, but the kind of socialism that Sanders wants to bring about isn’t necessarily the Denmark kind. As Matthews accurately said, Denmark is a capitalist country with a lot of social programs.

Sanders campaign staffers have openly said that the kind of revolution they want to bring about is one that includes forced reeducation, violence, and gulags.

Any socialist takeover is going to meet forceful resistance, especially in America. If Sanders or his supporters want to bring about the revolution as they say, then Matthews is the only MSNBC host with any kind of grounding in reality.

Not that it matters. The “revolution” that these socialists want to bring about won’t succeed.
