House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided to make a display of utter disdain for President Donald Trump last night by ripping up his State of the Union speech after he was done giving it. It was a petty move that made her look immature rather than rebellious, but that’s par for the course when it comes to Pelosi.
Standing right next to her was Vice President Mike Pence who appeared on Fox and Friends this morning to discuss the move. Pence noted that he didn’t see Pelosi do it but only heard about it later. Regardless, he has some words to describe it.
“I think it was a new low,” said Pence, shaking his head.
“I wasn’t sure if she was ripping up the speech or ripping up the Constitution,” he continued. “It’s clear the contrast here is a president who spent an hour and a half making a speech about America, and Nancy Pelosi, in the final moments, tried to make it about her.”
“I think the American people see through it,” he added. “They see through the pettiness. They see through the politics of all of it.”
Pence agreed with the Fox News hosts that this was something Pelosi had planned to do all along and believed it was beneath the dignity of a joint session of congress.
Pelosi didn’t just rip up Trump’s speech, she ripped up all of what was contained in it. The celebration of Americans and their success, the people who were mentioned in it, the emotional moments and stories that real Americans can celebrate were all ripped up by Pelosi in that speech.
As the White House tweeted out, this will be her legacy.
Speaker Pelosi just ripped up:
One of our last surviving Tuskegee Airmen.
The survival of a child born at 21 weeks.
The mourning families of Rocky Jones and Kayla Mueller.
A service member's reunion with his family.
That's her legacy.

While they say it was petty of Trump to not shake Pelosi’s hand, what Pelosi did can be described as even more than petty. It was just cruel.
