Leftist Comedian Bill Maher Calls for the Rejection of Radical Fringe Democrats, Bashes PC Culture

Leftist comedian and show host Bill Maher is not happy about the radicals that have taken over the Democratic party, and like other leftists who have grown sick of it, Maher is speaking out against them.

New York Times Magazine interviewed Maher and the first question posed to him was why he tends to attack the left as much as he does the right. Maher’s response wasn’t kind to the PC culture police who have effectively become giant babies:

It’s hard to answer that question without sounding self-serving. I will say this: Our studio audience is not representative of liberals across the country. Your paper and The Atlantic had in the last year saying that 80 percent of Americans think this politically correct BS has gone too far. But the people on Twitter are the people who control the media a lot. They’re the millennials who probably grew up with helicopter parents who afforded them a sense of entitlement. They are certainly more fragile than previous generations. Trigger warnings. Safe spaces. Crying rooms. Microaggressions. That crowd feels like anything that upsets their tender sensibilities is completely out of line.

Maher went on to suggest that if the Democrats want to win another election, then the correct way to deal with this “ultrawoke” crowd is to push them out of the party.

“The most important thing that the Democrats can do to win the next election is to broom this element out of their party and stand up to the Twitter mob and the ultrawoke,” said Maher.

The comedian went on to describe the SJW crowd with accuracy, and he wasn’t kind:

They don’t do anything. They’re pointing at other people who are somehow falling short of their standards, which could have changed three weeks ago. They’re constantly moving the goalposts so they can go, “Gotcha!” For example, when I was growing up, the most liberal thing you could do is not see color. Well, that’s wrong now. You see color, always, so you can register your white privilege. But I grew up in the Martin Luther King era: Judge by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. I still think that’s the best way to do it. Not see it.

Maher’s take on PC culture is one that seems to be shared by many comedians, and it’s no wonder. The outrage mobs that have sprung up around this “woke” philosophy have sunk careers and ruined comedy as a general rule. Society needs comedy. It’s one of the best disinfectants we have against the ridiculousness of people taking things too seriously to the point of creating sacred cows.

Dave Chappell and Bill Burr recently released comedy specials that more or less dared the SJW crowd to get angry with them. It worked, and the resulting support from the general public showed that the woke crowd may be loud, but they’re not numerous.

Recently, Joker director  Todd Phillips also took a moment to bash the “woke” crowd in an interview with Vanity Fair.

“Go try to be funny nowadays with this woke culture,” said Phillips. “There were articles written about why comedies don’t work anymore—I’ll tell you why, because all the f***ing funny guys are like, ‘F**k this shit, because I don’t want to offend you.’ It’s hard to argue with 30 million people on Twitter. You just can’t do it, right? So you just go, ‘I’m out.’”

Perhaps we’re approaching a point where the hold of SJWs on our society is going to break. Rest assured, if and when it happens, society will become a lot less stressful.
