Republican Representative Dan Crenshaw of Texas, who is also a former combat vet who gave an eye for his country, has fallen under attack in the media more than once. First, it was from Pete Davidson of Saturday Night Live, but as we all know, that ended with the two becoming friends.

But while Davidson is good-natured, the latest guy to step up to the plate was just flat out malicious. His name is Hasan Piker, and he’s a journalist/commentator for the Young Turks.

Piker was doing a Twitch stream on Tuesday night when he decided to attack Crenshaw, a man who had put himself in very real danger in the service of his country, from the comfort and safety of his home that was made safe by people like Crenshaw.

Crenshaw was being interviewed by Joe Rogan, and that was apparently more than Hasan could handle.

“This guy has the understanding of foreign policy of, like, a 12-year-old. What the f***. What the f*** is wrong with this dude? Didn’t he go to war and like literally lose his eye because some mujahideen — a brave f***ing soldier — f***ed his eye hole with their d***?”

“Isn’t that how he f***ing lost his dumba** eye, because he got his f***ing eye hole f***ed, by a brave soldier?”

Here’s the clip, but obviously, language warning.

I thought I’d be severely outraged when I heard this rant from this idiot, but to be honest, I’m more amused than anything. It sounds like he’s triggered by the existence of a man like Crenshaw on any given day, but add to the fact that Crenshaw is on the Joe Rogan podcast and it seems this guy has broken down. He even has to take a minute to collect himself after his idiotic rant.

In any case, Crenshaw didn’t get outraged or triggered himself. Instead, he took to Twitter and gave Hasan a one-two punch. First a correction, then a jab to his ego.

[Hasan] seems to confuse “Improvised Explosive Device” with some weird terrorist fantasy,” tweeted Crenshaw. “Lol sorry for triggering you Hasan. You’re no Pete Davidson, stop trying so hard.”

The subtle jabs are actually huge insults. For one, Hasan called the terrorist who took Crenshaw’s eye a “brave soldier,” but really he was a bomb maker who hides in a room and crafts explosive devices to take out unsuspecting soldiers on the road. It’s not exactly brave, and what’s more, IEDs often kill innocent civilians at the rate of 53,000 a year according to The Guardian.

If Hasan considers these terrorists brave then that doesn’t exactly speak well for Hasan, who seems to identify and sympathize more with murderous cowards than actual soldiers.

Secondly, Crenshaw notes that Hasan is no Davidson and that he’s trying too hard. I’m not defending what Davidson did, but at least it was meant to be humorous, not malicious, as proven by the fact that Davidson and Crenshaw became friends. Hasan’s quote was purely malicious, not at all funny.

That’s why Hasan comes off as some young kid who’s throwing around bad words to get reactions, not any kind of comedian or legit commentator. Even if he wasn’t going for either of those, no matter how you swing it, he comes off as Crenshaw describes him: A try-hard.

The trained seals on the left are going to clap and laugh at Hasan’s commentary at Crenshaw’s expense, and I expect nothing less.

But it doesn’t matter. Crenshaw won this round before he even tweeted anything out. The Young Turks have had a legitimacy problem for a long time but after Hasan’s triggering, the organization looks worse than ever.

Crenshaw’s punches landed well, but even without them, it was a self-knockout on the part of Hasan and The Young Turks.
