Now the US Holocaust Museum Is Denouncing Ocasio-Cortez's Concentration Camp Comments

Despite the mainstream media coming to her defense as if they were bees protecting their queen, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s comparison of holding areas for illegal immigrant children to concentration camps was wrong on various levels. What’s more, despite her claims that she wasn’t comparing these holding areas to Nazi concentration camps, her use of the phrase “never again,” a common phrase referring to Holocaust, tells us otherwise.

Ocasio-Cortez likes to pretend that the only people who are angry with her are Republicans, but the truth is that many Jewish groups and Jewish individuals have made it clear that she’s in the wrong. We can now add the United States Holocaust Museum to that list as well.

The Holocaust Museum issued a statement responding to AOC, saying that the USHMM “unequivocally rejects efforts to create analogies between the Holocaust and other events, whether historical or contemporary.”

They also clarified in the statement that one of their employees agreeing with AOC’s statement doesn’t mean that it reflects on the museum.

From the USHMM website:

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum unequivocally rejects efforts to create analogies between the Holocaust and other events, whether historical or contemporary. That position has repeatedly and unambiguously been made clear in the Museum’s official statement on the matter – a statement that is reiterated and reaffirmed now. The link to the Museum’s statement is here.

The Museum further reiterates that a statement ascribed to a Museum staff historian regarding recent attempts to analogize the situation on the United States southern border to concentration camps in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s does not reflect the position of the Museum.

The Museum deeply regrets any offense to Holocaust survivors and others that may have been engendered by any statement ascribed to a Museum historian in a personal capacity.

It’s time for AOC to give up the act, yet she’s sticking to her guns on this. While I realize there are times when apologies aren’t necessary, AOC now has a couple of things to apologize for, and some people to apologize to. She should apologize to the Jewish community for making such a flippant comparison in her quest to be as sensational as possible. She also needs to apologize to America for blatantly lying to them about her intent.

I’m not holding my breath and neither should you.
