It Starts: Bernie Sanders Is Using Ocasio-Cortez to Flame Biden

It was only a matter of time before the radicals in the Democratic party began trying to take former VP and current favorite for the 2020 Democratic nomination, Joe Biden, to the mat. It seems that their first task is going to be to make Biden seem like a “non-starter” on climate change.

And Biden’s closest competitor, Sen. Bernie Sanders, is going to use the Democrat’s current sweetheart, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, to do it.

While giving a joint promotion of the failed Green New Deal on Monday, the democratic socialist duo painted Biden’s supposed centrist climate change proposal as a “dealbreaker” and signaled that when it came to climate change there was no middle ground.

On Friday Ocasio-Cortez criticized a “middle ground” climate plan reportedly in the works from former Vice President Joe Biden‘s presidential campaign, calling it a “dealbreaker” for the party’s progressives

“This is a dealbreaker. There is no ‘middle ground’ w/ climate denial & delay,” tweeted Ocasio-Cortez.

“Blaming ‘blue collar’ Americans as the main opponents to bold climate policy is gas lobbyist 101,” she continued. “We’re not going to solve the climate crisis w/ this lack of leadership. Our kids’ lives are at stake.”

Sanders slammed Biden’s plan as a non-starter.

“There is no ‘middle ground’ when it comes to climate policy. If we don’t commit to fully transforming our energy system away from fossil fuels, we will doom future generations,” Sanders tweeted. “Fighting climate change must be our priority, whether fossil fuel billionaires like it or not.”

Biden has yet to release any kind of climate change plan, and reports that his plan was a middle of the road kind have been “mischaracterized” according to Reuters. Still, I’m not sure that a plan that seeks the middle ground would be a detriment to his campaign.

At this time, climate change is a large issue to the Democratic party. As the clear favorite to win the nomination, it’s likely that whatever plan he releases is going to be the one the Democratic party and its media back.
