More People Label Ocasio-Cortez A Villain Than a Hero After Killing Amazon Deal

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was incredibly proud of herself after Amazon pulled out of their developing deal with New York and pointed to her as the reason without calling her out by name. She even got on Twitter and spiked her football over it.

Of course, while she may have been proud of keeping some 25,000 jobs away from citizens in New York who may need it, those very same New Yorkers saw it a bit differently.

The Siena College Research Institute has indicated that 2/3 voters in New York consider Ocasio-Cortez a “villain” for the cancellation of the Amazon deal:

“Who do New Yorkers blame? Well, there’s certainly blame enough to go around. More people think that Amazon, Governor Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio, the State Senate, and local Queens activists were villains in this saga than they were heroes. However, voters say the biggest villain was Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Only 12 percent call her hero, while 38 percent label her a villain,” Greenberg said. “Amazon itself was seen as the biggest villain among Democrats, but Republicans and independents had Ocasio-Cortez as far and away the largest villain, followed by the local Queens activists.”

To make matters worse, the majority of this opinion seems to go across the ideological board with “at least 63 percent of Democrats, Republicans and independents, upstaters and downstaters, men and women, young and old, black and white New Yorkers” agreeing that Amazon pulling out of Queens was bad for New York.

“Even 56 percent of self-described liberals think it was bad for New York,” said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg. “While some may have celebrated Amazon’s announcement to pull the plug, the vast majority of New Yorkers of every stripe thought it was bad for the Empire State.”

This is just further bad news for Ocasio-Cortez, who has seen her recognition skyrocket, but her approval ratings fall. According to Gallup, the democratic socialist is losing favor with America by double digits.

Sources have said that some in New York are already looking to primary Ocasio-Cortez, a threat she’s apparently taking very seriously, as she’s already begun buying up ads on Facebook in defense of herself.
