Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) hasn’t exactly been the most stellar example of a congressional member since her intro into D.C. politics. Between the anti-semitism and ridiculous lines of questioning she gives during committee meetings, it would appear that Minnesota Democrats are beginning to look elsewhere.
A report from The Hill brought a plan hatching within the Democratic party of Minnesota out into the open that said that “initial steps” are being taken to recruit a new candidate to replace Omar.
Omar responded to the news, but instead of lashing out at the Democratic party in Minnesota, she directed the attention to President Donald Trump…for some reason.
“I’m sorry Mr. @realDonald Trump,” Omar tweeted. “I am for real, you can’t #MuslimBan us from Congress!”

The reference was pointed at Trump’s so-called “Muslim ban” in 2017 wherein Trump restricted travel from certain countries that had close ties to terrorism with certain exceptions made on a case-by-case basis. It wasn’t an all-out Muslim ban, of course, but the details aren’t necessary for Omar’s message.
In this scenario, Trump is allegedly trying to get rid of Omar because she’s a Muslim.
However, just to make sure everyone is clear here, Trump is a Republican and the people looking to replace her are Minnesota Democrats.
Of course, Omar is known for saying very odd things on Twitter. For instance, Omar blamed Republicans for spreading disinformation after one conservative commentator quoted her lie about the behavior of the Covington Catholic kids during the March for Life incident. Omar held that because they were circulating her lie, THEY were responsible for lying to the people.
Meanwhile, Omar is helping fundraise for groups that actually help fund terrorism, and has expressed that Israel shouldn’t get to exist as a Jewish state. She also accused Congress of being an Israeli puppet due to cash bribes from pro-Israel organizations, a statement that she was forced to apologize for. She did apologize, then later recanted the apology.
It’s no wonder the Democrats of Minnesota want her gone.
