Ocasio-Cortez: A System That Allows for Billionaires to Exist "Is Wrong" When There Are Poor People

Our little democratic socialist sweetheart, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is once again banging the drum for socialism, this time at the invitation of Ta-Nehisi Coates at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event in Harlem.

While on the stage doing a Q&A, AOC told the race-obsessed author that a system that allows billionaires to exist is immoral if there are people suffering due to poverty.

“I do think that a system that allows billionaires to exist when there are parts of Alabama where people are still getting ringworm because they don’t have access to public health is wrong,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

AOC was careful not to call billionaires themselves immoral, but the economic system that allowed them to grow and develop their wealth is itself a problem for our society.

“I don’t think that necessarily means that all billionaires are immoral,” she added. “It’s not to say someone like Bill Gates or Warren Buffet are immoral people. I don’t believe that.”

I wish Ocasio-Cortez would put herself in a position to be asked about whether or not people who work hard to earn their money should be able to keep it, or explain why wealthy people’s private charities are far more helpful than any government program.

I’d also like it asked of her if she’d be willing to reduce the pay she’s receiving from the people in light of her views on wealth.

I won’t hold my breath, though. At this time, AOC believes that wealth is bad and that the money should be spread around.

Just not hers. It’s odd that she seems to have this “wealth accumulation is bad” mentality when she won’t even answer the simple question of whether or not she’s going to give up her paycheck in light of the federal workers not getting paid due to the shutdown. According to her, lawmakers should have principles and do that, yet when it came time to put her money where her mouth is, her response was simple.

“I’ve gotta run!”
