Another 'Ghostbusters' Is In the Works, and (Hallelujah) It's Pretending the 2016 Feminist Reboot Didn't Happen

One of the most beloved franchises in America may have another chance at life after it was nearly slaughtered by the woke crowd.

It looks like Hollywood is going to try its hand at Ghostbusters one more time, but this time it’s going to step around the steaming pile of crap that was the 2016 all-girl feminist reboot, holding its nose as it does and pretending it never happened.

This gives me serious hope for this movie, and that hope is only compounded when it was reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Jason Reitman, son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, will pick up where his father left off as the franchise’s director:

Reitman, the son of original Ghostbusters helmer Ivan Reitman, will helm a new Ghostbusters movie that he has been working on in secret.

The filmmaker discreetly co-wrote a script with Gil Kenan, director of the animated movie Monster House, and the pic is set to go into production this summer with an eye on a 2020 release.

The whole project has been under a veil of secrecy; the code name it has been operating under has been “Rust City.”

Sony is calling the new feature “the next chapter in the original story,” saying it continues the narrative of the 1980s classic. It has also been described as a passing of the torch, “both inside and out.”

It’s unclear if the original cast (sans the legendary Harold Ramis, may he R.I.P) will make a return, but Reitman’s aim seems to be to create a new generation of Ghostbusters who are picking up directly from the original ghost-busting quartet.

They have even released an exciting new teaser.

It’s a massive relief to see Ghostbusters getting the second chance it deserves. I’ve excepted that we currently live in a world of constant revamps and reboots, and all I ask is that a revisit to my childhood be halfway decent. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a pretty respectful sequel, and Blade Runner: 2049 was a stupendous addition to the storyline.

However, they attempted to murder Ghostbusters by tossing it to the wokest wolves they could find while mocking its fans the entire time. It tainted a beloved product with politics. The same happened with Star Wars, and will likely continue to happen with other franchises we grew up on.

I’d be happy just to get a sequel that doesn’t touch politics at all and just gives us a good time, and I pray that the son of the original director will stay true to the path his father had put the franchise on in the first place.
