Anti-NRA Warrior and Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel No Longer Even Has the Support of the Media

There are villains aplenty in the story revolving around the shooting that happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School, but many point at the county sheriff as the prime suspect of why so much went wrong.

After the Parkland massacre occurred, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel sat on a large stage for a CNN town hall next to NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch, where he proceeded to lambast her and her organization as the primary cause for all the woes that were rocking his community at the time. The nation and media nodded in agreement with Israel, making Loesch and anyone who agreed with her out to be nothing less than murderous demons and supporters of a terrorist organization.

But over time, the true story began to come out. The Sheriff’s department and the Broward County school district had failed to help the young shooter (whose name will not be shared by me) some 39 times when they should have taken action, his deputies flatly refused to enter into Stoneman Douglass High while the shooting was occurring in order to help. Not only that, Sheriff’s Department officials refused to allow medical personnel into the building to help wounded and dying students after the threat had been dealt with.

Meanwhile, Israel refused to take any responsibility, shoving it all on the NRA, or on his deputies.

But it’s all caught up with him now according to the Daily Wire, who noted that even the leftist leaning Sun Sentinal now sides with Republicans when it comes to what should be done about the inept Sheriff whom they once defended:

“It’s a big deal for a governor to remove an elected sheriff, especially if the governor is a Republican and the sheriff is the most powerful Democrat in Florida’s most Democratic county,” the Sun Sentinel editorial board states. But after reviewing a draft of the state commission’s report on the shooting, the editors have concluded that Israel simply cannot be allowed to stay in office.

“[A] community of our size is going to face another tragedy,” the editors conclude. “It’s just a matter of where and when. And if we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. Given Sheriff Israel’s failure to learn from history — and his failures during our community’s most horrific events — we now stand with those who believe he should be removed and replaced.”

The Sentinal made it very clear that they were once fully in Israel’s corner, but the mounting evidence against him has become too much for even they to defend. The Sun Sentinal editorial board has now recommended that the incoming Florida governor, Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis, kick Israel to the curb.

“We’ve suggested all along that people hold their fire until more details are known,” wrote the Sentinal’s editorial board. “But after seeing the damning details in the commission’s draft report — and Israel’s troubling testimony — we cannot encourage the governor-elect to wait and let voters decide the sheriff’s fate in 2020.”

I find myself in complete agreement. Clearly, Israel is a danger to that community and is more obsessed with the way his community looks that actually making sure that his community is safe. So many lives would have been saved if Israel had done his job, instead, so many families were missing loved ones during their Christmas celebrations.
