President Donald Trump responded on Friday to CNN White House Press correspondent Jim Acosta getting his press pass back, albeit temporarily, and warned reporters how things will go from here on out.

According to CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he wants “total freedom of the press,” and that it’s “more important to me than anybody would believe.”

Knoller says, however, that the President added that reporters have to act with respect, and if they fail to do so, Trump will walk out of press events. He added that he told his aides to do the same.

Acosta was stripped of his press pass by the White House after he continuously tried to argue with the President after Trump answered two of his questions, then resisted a White House staffer who attempted to take the microphone from him. This caused a media backlash on both sides, with Fox News and Republicans taking Acosta’s side on the matter.

Despite this, Acosta’s track record of being disrespectful has earned him the ire of, not only the White House but reportedly of his fellow reporters behind closed doors.
