Men Form Human Shield Around Women to Protect Them From Gunman During California Shooting

In a stunning act of selflessness, a group of men formed a protective wall around a group of young women in order to shield them from bullets during California’s deadly shooting that claimed the lives of 12 people.

According to the Daily Signal, three women gave an interview to ABC after the event and told the harrowing story:

“While we were all dog-piled at the side, there were multiple men that got on their knees and pretty much blocked all of us with their backs towards the shooter, ready to take a bullet for any single one of us,” Teylor Whittler, woman who had been in the club during the shooting, said Thursday morning, via ABC News.

“And just the amount of people who made sure everyone got out OK or if they were out … they made sure, they went around to every single person around them and asked them if they were OK and if they needed a phone to call their family … just in general any way they could help. It was awesome,” she continued.

The gunman — whose name I won’t post out of a personal policy of not giving the shooter any fame — entered the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks Wednesday night around 11:20 p.m. and opened fire on innocents with a semi-automatic pistol. Twelve lost their lives, and 18 were reportedly injured.

The shooter took his own life.

The selfless bravery of the men who formed the protective barrier between the bullets and the women should be publicly honored.
