Amy Schumer Proves That a Social Justice Agenda Is Box Office Poison

Social justice politics is like a reverse Midas touch. The moment it comes in contact with something, instead of pure gold, it turns into absolute garbage.

It’s what happened to Twitter, it’s what’s happening to YouTube, and it’s definitely what happens to movies and shows that become weighted down with SJW propaganda.


The latest example is Amy Schumer’s “I Feel Pretty,” a sort of reversal of the “Shallow Hal” movie where Schumer’s character perceives herself as super-model hot after an accident. The movie is meant to promote the idea of body positivity, which is a tenet of the SJW religion. While there’s nothing wrong with being confident in the skin you’re in, this idea is usually promoted in order to make unhealthy lifestyles and body weight okay.

Naturally, no one is buying into the social justice propaganda that Schumer is selling, and as a result, the movie is currently raking in $16 million in ticket sales, which is half of its $32 million budget. Half of those ticket sales go to the theaters, so the studio is actually losing a lot of money here.

But it’s not just the fact that “I Feel Pretty” is a bad movie. It’s the fact that Schumer, the lead actress, is so disliked by movie-going audiences that they have zero interest in watching her in a movie covering a subject they have even less interest in. Schumer’s likability is the weight that is sinking this movie, but it’s Schumer’s own doing.

Paul Bois at the Daily Wire put it best:

As I highlighted last week, several reasons have created the dead-on-arrival status of Schumer’s films. After rising to the top with her Comedy Central sketch show “Inside Amy Schumer,” the comedienne kicked off a promising career on the silver screen with her 2015 hit “Trainwreck,” which debuted to $30.1 million and went on to earn $140.8 million globally. Between 2015 and 2018, however, Schumer downed one-too-many martinis with sycophantic leftists in the Hollywood cocktail scene and followed actress Jennifer Lawrence in the quest to savage her goodwill with American audiences by repeatedly insulting them.

Since then, the cousin of Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer has pushed heavy gun control, endorsed radical feminism at the “Women’s March,” and characterized Trump supporters as “rich, entitled white people” and “very poor people who’ve been tricked into it.”

Schumer’s politics became so toxic during one of her comedy routines, it prompted as many as 200 former fans to boo her and walk out of her show. She has yet to learn that alienating half your customer base with rude insults will only encourage them to stay home.


Schumer made the fatal mistake that many a celebrity does, and that’s buying into the Hollywood bubble’s message that there is only one accepted ideology in America, and everyone hates the few that reject the mainstream social justice narrative. Problem is, the reverse is actually true. Audiences tend not to buy into the SJW narrative, even if some do on the surface in order to avoid being a social pariah. The majority of America has no interest in Schumer’s advocacy.

Schumer bit into what they were selling hook, line, and sinker, and then Schumer did what she does naturally, and took it to an extreme. This going overboard was somewhat funny when it was just crude jokes about her experiences, but when she added the SJW agenda to her act it turned it into the aforementioned garbage. “The Schumer Touch,” we’ll call it.

The Schumer Touch can be seen bringing many things down. The all-female Ghostbusters remake flopped massively due to its focus on an agenda rather than good storytelling. Marvel and DC took a social justice turn for the worst, and as a result, their sales dropped quite a bit. Hollywood award shows have seen their audiences dissipate with every leftist agenda fueled acceptance speech. Even the NFL wasn’t safe as its embracing of social justice drove audiences away by massive numbers. This includes ESPN, who is bleeding their audience at an alarming rate.

The message is clear. America isn’t buying what the SJWs are selling. It’s not the moral movement it makes itself out to be, and only serves to divide Americans, and we get enough of that in our politics. Don’t be an Amy Schumer.
