Rand Paul Is Out to Balance the Budget in Five Years With an Upcoming Bill

We sent Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) to Washington to do a job, and contrary to the popular method in D.C., he’s actually out to do it.

According to a recent Facebook video posted by Paul, he has plans to submit a budget bill that will balance our out of control spending within five years. As the Republicans have no plan for a budget plan for 2019, Paul is looking to take advantage of the fact that anyone can submit a budget.

And as far as many Americans are concerned, he’s the man for the job.

“It’s time to get our fiscal house in order,” declared Paul in the video.

“No more trillion-dollar deficits. No more adding to the $21 trillion debt that burdens our country and our children and our grandchildren. Adding to this massive debt isn’t what I signed up for, and it isn’t what people voted for,” said the Kentucky Senator.

Paul has been something of a thorn in the side of the GOP when it comes to out of control budgets, often standing in the way of bad policy if he can help it. This has rubbed more than a few Republicans the wrong way, but Paul’s insistence that we work with a balanced budget is the way a Republican should act.

The Republican tax cuts were a superb leap forward that many an American applauded. However, without getting our spending under control, there’s little point to the tax cuts. Our debt is out of control, and it needs to be reined in yesterday.

Paul plans to force a vote on his bill, and I for one can’t wait to see which Republicans say no to it.
