Of Course CNN Wheels Out Caitlyn Jenner for Int'l Women's Day, and of Course He Says Something Stupid

Leave it to the “most trusted name in news” to take International Women’s Day and make it mean absolutely nothing.

As I wrote earlier today, women are definitely worth celebrating, but under the intersectional guiding principles of modern feminism, it has become a day of “us vs them.” Instead of celebrating the accomplishments of women, they tend to paint opposing ideologies and men as a whole as oppressive or anti-woman.

CNN did exactly that today, but they did it through the mouth of a man who is convinced he is a woman, and not actually a real woman.

Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, had some hormone therapy, strapped some silicone on his chest, and called himself a woman. This apparently qualified Jenner to win things like the ESPY Arthur Ash award over two other women who struggled through incredible hardship (one of them being terminal brain cancer) in order to play the sports they loved.

They gave it to Jenner for putting on a dress and announcing he was no longer a dude.

But now on this, our International Day of Women, CNN has wheeled out Jenner into the spotlight once again in order to tell us how women like him are viewed as second-class citizens.

There are many ideas that I would punt directly into the nearest pit of lava if I could, and the idea that Jenner should be a go-to voice to speak on the hardships of women is definitely one of them.

Let’s break some things down here that Jenner said.

For one women are far from being second class, at least here in the first world where Jenner was brought up. I’d like to remind Jenner that despite the fact that he is male, he was celebrated from the mainstream media to every social justice vlog, blog, and tlog for becoming female. Women’s empowerment is such a huge deal, especially in this day and age, that there isn’t a in issue that women have that’s not made painfully aware to the public. Earlier today I just wrote that women are earning more doctorate degrees than men for the eighth year running. Single, childless women are actually earning MORE money than men in the majority of American cities, and that study was done back in 2010.

Also, women are not “brought up” to be physically weaker than men. If you ditch the political correctness, and focus on provable, scientific study in regards to our biology, you can see that women are typically weaker than men by nature. Men are built for combat and destruction, while women are built for nurturing. That’s nature, not opinion.

The same can be said of Jenner’s claim that women are brought up by society to be “emotionally weaker.” I’m not sure “emotionally weaker” is what I’d use to describe women, but regardless of how you would describe how much more deeply women feel emotions than men, this isn’t something crafted by society. This is literally how women and men’s brains function differently. Men’s brains are wired to deal with situations they are confronted with more analytically, while women’s brains tend to open up more for emotion and feeling.

But CNN giving Jenner a platform to blurt out 18 seconds of stupid for International Women’s Day is wrong for a much more underlying reason.

See, Jenner doesn’t know what it’s like to be a woman. Jenner just knows what it’s like to be a man who is a transgendered individual. Yes, he may dress like a woman, wear makeup, and do things that women typically do, but at the end of the day he is not a woman, and never had to experience the landmark things women have to go through in the course of their lives.

As RedState’s own Kira Davis wrote when “Caitlyn” first arrived on the scene:

You are not a woman. You will never be a woman. That title is something that is earned. It is not a persona or a skin you can slip into one day when the moment is right. It is not something you think you are and then later mutilate your body to match. What goes into becoming a woman cannot be surgically inserted (or removed for that matter). It cannot be gained in therapy or a lifetime of feeling different or found in the hem of a particularly stunning dress. I think even the most hardcore of feminists would agree it is far more than biological, certainly much deeper than psychological.

You will never understand the careful navigation of the world every girl must figure out for herself. You’ll never know what it’s like to be a little girl in a man’s world or what it’s like to watch your body change into that weird in-between stage when all the boys around you are still little boys and you’re turning into a woman without even really wanting it. You’ll never know what it’s like to deal with a monthly cycle, or even what it’s like to be the very rare woman who doesn’t get her monthly but still has to deal with the stigma of being a teenager developing more slowly than her peers. Ovaries are not just anatomy. They play a big part in who we are as women. There are many, many women out there who have had their ovaries removed for various medical reasons. You are not even like them, because those women also deal with the emotional and physical repercussions of being a woman who had ovaries and can no longer let them stay in her body.

If we’re celebrating women, then let’s celebrate women. Stop wheeling out social justice nutcases and pretending they speak for women everywhere.
