After the Parkland shooting, various companies decided to part ways with the NRA due to its sudden unpopularity, despite the fact that the NRA had absolutely nothing to do with the actions of the shooter who killed 17 people.

All of those companies found themselves tanking in terms of approval points, but it looks like Delta Airlines may be facing way more than PR problems.

According to Fox News, Delta’s willingness to engage in politics and punish NRA members caused the Republican majority in Georgia’s state legislature to punish Delta in return by stripping a jet fuel tax exemption worth millions to the airline. Gov. Nathan Deal signed the bill.

“Businesses have every legal right to make their own decisions, but the Republican majority in our state legislature also has every right to govern guided by our principles,” said Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle.

The legislature was in the midst of considering renewing the tax break when Delta proceeded to split with the NRA.

Cagle is set to run for the position of Governor, taking over for Deal in November. Cagle has already warned that unless Delta reinstates its relationship with the NRA, he would block any legislation that would prove beneficial for Delta.

“I will kill any tax legislation that benefits @Delta unless the company changes its position and fully reinstates its relationship with the @NRA,” Cagle tweeted on Monday. “Corporations cannot attack conservatives and expect us not to fight back.”

In response to the Georgia legislature’s move against Delta, Connecticut Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy and New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo have invited the airline to relocate its headquarters to their states.
