Ted Cruz Is Correct, and We Shouldn't Rest Easy During the Midterm Elections

The midterm elections are almost upon us, and the GOP is currently facing a grave threat to their numbers by the Democrats. According to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), resting easy isn’t an option.

Cruz appeared and addressed the Fort Bend County GOP last Friday, where he warned the members that a hard fight was ahead of them, and they should not take it easy on the Democrats. This includes the deep red state of Texas, as his seat is currently being threatened by a Soros backed challenger, Beto O’Rourke.

“Let me tell you right now: The left is going to show up,” Cruz said, according to The Texas Tribune. “They will crawl over broken glass in November to vote.”

Cruz is correct. Democrats smell blood in the water, and they’re circling the GOP boats currently leaking thanks to the raising of budget caps and the deluge of mainstream media stories that attempt to paint the GOP as monsters.

Republicans believe that thanks to the tax cuts currently rewarding workers with extra cash, Americans seeing eye to eye with Trump on border security, and the all-around good news Trump had for the people during the SOTU address, they may have an easy time with it. While it’s true that this may have sweetened the American people to the Republican party, it’s dangerous thinking. Relying on the idea that Republicans have performed so well that complacency is warranted will get a lot of Democrats elected. No amount of good news can override years of anti-Republican programming.

This is even true in Texas, where O’Rourke is out-raising Cruz in terms of donations. While there are similar overtones to Jon Ossoff in the Georgia special election here, it’s not wise to expect a repeat in Texas. The left is ready and raring to act, and Cruz is sounding the warning.

“It’s true my Democratic opponent is raising a lot of money,” Cruz said. “We’re not going to take it for granted. That’s a manifestation of the energy on the extreme left.”

If Republicans want to mitigate the oncoming damage, they need to fight back as hard against the Democrats currently out for blood. Campaign, show up to vote, etc. Otherwise, red strongholds will see themselves turning a shade of purple.
