UN Ambassador Nikki Haley is always making sure everyone at the UN knows that she’s the biggest fish swimming in that pond, and once again proved that the U.S. won’t be bothered by the complaints guppies, especially if that guppy likes to sponsor terrorism against innocent people.
Haley recently dismissed Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas as a conspiracy theorist incapable of coming to the table for a peaceful solution with Israel. According to Fox News, the comments came during a UN Security Council meeting after Abbas said he rejected the U.S. as a mediator between Israel and the PA.
Abbas, angry over the Jerusalem declaration Trump made last year, said he would not trust the U.S. and upon the threat that the U.S. would pull their funding of the PA responded: “damn your money.”
Well, okay then.
Haley announced that Abbas is a bad leader, a conspiracy theorist, and that if he wants to act the way he is, the U.S. won’t stop him but it won’t help him either.
“He rejected any American role in peace talks. He insulted the American president. He called for suspending recognition of Israel,” Haley said. “He invoked an ugly and fictional past, reaching back to the 17th century to paint Israel as a colonialist project engineered by European powers.”
“A speech that indulges in outrageous and discredited conspiracy theories is not the speech of a person with the courage and will to seek real peace,” she added.
She said that while the U.S. was “eager” to pursue peace, “we will not chase after a Palestinian leadership that lacks what’s needed to achieve peace.”
These words from Haley came after Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke in Switzerland, where Trump said Palestinians can either help with the peace process or lose their funding.
“When they disrespected us a week ago by not allowing our great vice president to see them and we give them hundreds of millions of dollars in aid and support — tremendous numbers, numbers that nobody understands — that money is on the table, and that money’s not going to them unless they sit down and negotiate peace,” he said.
Earlier this month, the US Congress passed a bill that would halt the money to the Palestinian Authority for its direct funding of terrorism against innocent Israeli families.
