It appears we have a challenger against Nancy Pelosi for the title of most out of touch person in Washington, and it’s none other than former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Fla.). But the 2018 Wasserman-Schultz seems to disagree with 2011 Wasserman-Schultz, who made a massive deal out of the loss of just $40.

Earlier today, Wasserman Schultz slammed the $1,000 bonuses being given to employees by corporations due to the GOP tax cuts claiming they don’t go “very far.” The congresswoman was at the #TrumpTax Town Hall at Florida Atlantic University when, according to Free Beacon, she was asked to respond to the corporate generosity. Wasserman Schultz, being sure to follow the party line, decided to pretend that $1,000 isn’t much.

“Frankly, if you look at the bonuses, which I haven’t heard of a corporate bonus more than $1,000 so far—which by the way is taxed, so it’s not $1,000,” Schultz said. “And then you spread $1,000 over the course of a year—to think of about how much that is—of course, they get it all at once. But I’m not sure that $1,000—which is taxed, taxable—goes very far for almost anyone.”

I’ll remind Wasserman Schultz that 57 percent of Americans have less than $1,000 in their bank account according to a 2017 BankingRates Survey, and a whole $1,000 could go far for a lot of Americans not making the same mountains of cash DWS and her colleagues are in their privileged positions in D.C.

But most amusingly is that while DWS is pretending that $1,000 is mere peanuts, or “crumbs” as reigning out of touch champ Pelosi likes to claim, the Florida congresswoman made a huge deal out of far less money back in 2011, when Republicans decided not to extend payroll tax cuts.

Hilariously, both Pelosi and DWS are resorting to dog and pony tactics to make a massive GOP success seem like nothing, when if the shoe were on the other foot and the Democrats had passed such a tax cut (I know that is pure fantasy) then they would be parading it through the streets day and night.
