Nikki Haley is already making good on her word to take names, but she’s not starting with her enemies. She’s starting with those who supported the United States by either voting with or abstaining from the UN’s condemnation vote over the Trump’s Jerusalem decision.
According to The Hill, Haley sent out “friendship” invites to the countries that stood by the U.S. as the oftentimes anti-Semitic United Nations general assembly voted to condemn the U.S. for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
From The Hill:
Haley on Thursday sent invitations to a January reception to the eight countries that voted no on the resolution, as well as the 35 countries that abstained from the vote and the 21 that did not cast a vote.
Haley’s invitation asks the nations who voted no, abstained from voting or didn’t cast a vote “to a reception to thank you for your friendship to the United States.”
The invitations come a day after 128 countries bucked the U.S. and voted for a resolution pushing back on their recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Those to be extended a hand in friendship? According to The Hill, only a handful:
Canada, Mexico and Australia chose to abstain from the vote, while the U.S., Israel, Togo, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Marshall Islands, Guatemala and Honduras voted against the resolution.
Haley said during her UN speech before the vote that the U.S. would remember those who chose to condemn the U.S., noting that the U.S. “will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very act of exercising our right as a sovereign nation.”
“We will remember it when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more,” said Haley, who previously mentioned that the U.S. pays more money for UN charity and peacekeeping efforts than any nation present.
Many are waiting to see if the U.S. backs up its threats of pulling funding or restricting funding to those countries that oftentimes require America’s help, then spit in its face. With Nikki Haley and Donald Trump moving the piece on the board, my bet would be on “yes.”
