Bristol Palin, daughter of former Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, is thrilled to see those who sexually harass and assault women be put through the ringer. However, while Palin is happy to see justice being served, she has a few problems with the picky manner in which justice is being dolled out.
In her recent blog on Patheos, Palin asked why sexual harassment can be considered ““just a joke” for some, and serious offenses for others,” and goes on to actually point out instances where her family suffered at the hands of media figures and little to no hackles were raised.
Palin gave examples such as Chris Wallace hoping her mother, Sarah, would sit on his lap during an interview:
When Chris Wallace was asked if my Mom would be sitting in his lap for an interview, he responded, “One can only hope.
Did Wallace receive any consequences for this kind of sexual harassment?
None. No one at Fox radio batted an eye with his violent misogynist rant – in fact he’s still celebrated.
Palin went on to list David Letterman’s joke about 2008’s New York Governor Elliot Spitzer and Yankee’s baseball player Alex Rodriguez knocking up her 14-year-old sister.
“I’m glad that suddenly Hollywood is taking rape more seriously. Good for them,” said Palin.”But what consequence did Letterman receive for joking about the rape of an underage girl?”
“Did he get reprimanded by CBS for this? No, no one batted an eye at it,” she added.
Palin also brought up the infamous Azalea Banks tweet:
Then, there’s Azeala Banks. This rapper’s Twitter account remained OPEN after these tweets about my mom just in 2016:
“Sarah Palin needs to have her hair shaved off to a buzz cut, get headf**ked by a big veiny, ashy, black dick then be locked in a cupboard.”
Then, she tweeted this as well:
“Honestly… Let’s find the burliest blackest niggas and let them run a train on her. Film it and put it on worldstar.”
What were Azeala’s consequences? Nothing… TWITTER EVEN KEPT HER ACCOUNT OPEN!
Palin lists a few more examples before coming to the conclusion that if America is serious about seeing real change, then it has to have a set of standards that applies to everyone.
“To be taken seriously, women leading the feminist movement can’t be defending predators just because they’re friend (or husbands in some cases),” she added, taking a swipe at Hillary Clinton for defending her husband Bill Clinton’s notorious sexual deviancy.
