Fun Fact: Trump Suits are Not Actually Made In America Despite Claims That They Are

How often as Donald Trump stood up on stage and ranted about how people were sending jobs overseas? Well, put Trump on the list of people who tends not to practice what he preaches, as the suits he’s famous for aren’t at all made in the USA.

As Buzzfeed has discovered, these suits are made in Indonesia. They even made a fun video to prove it, when they ordered a couple off of Amazon to confirm.

As Buzzfeed points out, the Amazon site where you can order these suits both say that the suit is “Imported,” as well as “Made in USA.”

Clearly, one of these bullet points are more true than the other.

But that’s not all. Buzzfeed has discovered that not all the suits were made in Indonesia. Some of them were made in the not so American country of Honduras. There, they have quotas that must be met if they are to receive pay based on production quotas, and that even bathroom breaks forsaken so that these quotas can be met.

“You have to put up with it to have an income,” said one supervisor whose white hair was pulled back in a loose bun. She asked not to be named for fear of being fired from her job. In recent years, she said, that job included sewing shirts emblazoned with Donald Trump’s brand.

As a candidate, Trump has campaigned on a platform of bringing American jobs back to the U.S. “Craftsmen and tradespeople and factory workers have seen the jobs they loved shift thousands and thousands of miles away,” he said during a speech in Pennsylvania last month. “Now it’s time for the American people to take back their future.”

So we have Trump not only caught being a liar and a hypocrite, but we have him caught putting his foreign workers through awful working conditions to make quotas.

His more hardcore supporters will excuse him for not leading by example, and even outright lying, but I’m not sure how Trump plans to make America great again when he’s not even willing to give jobs to people in the country he’s running to lead.
