Tonight, I offer my last entry in this media accountability show, serving as my swan song here at the site. It has been four years at this, with over 350 episodes, but it is time to move on to other opportunities. This has been a 10-year venture here at RedState and with Townhall Media, and it has been a grand run.
This site and the staff, and of course our editing team, all rank as first-rate. This is not a departure without reservations. All will be missed. So for this last broadcast I am looking back, but not to make a retrospective. Instead, I want to go over the important moments in media over these past years in order to show why I have endeavored to cover that industry.
I am not laying claim to accomplishments, as this is a collective effort by this podcast, the writers on this site, and those at Townhall, and the other right-of-center outlets. The effort involves beating back the manufactured narratives from the media complex and how delivering facts against those pre-fab storylines has had an effect.
There are numerous examples of the news industry working to promote a particular agenda and then seeing that attempt fall apart as the actual storylines were detailed, the factual details revealed, and the agenda from the press exposed. It is a needed enterprise and one that is having an effect. Today, the press industry suffers from many self-induced credibility hits, and the impact of these misfires of misinformation is seen.
Beyond the ratings plummeting, circulations shrinking, and evaporating traffic, we are seeing that the media complex has lost much of its influence. Narratives that a generation ago would have taken root today end up withering. This is because of the diligent attention to the facts and getting those into the hands of our audience. I worked to join in that effort here, and will do so going forward, and be assured RedState will keep at it.
This crew is impressive, and it has been a pleasant honor to work with everyone here. I look forward to coming back often for content and to keep up the battle against the disinformation efforts in the press.
