Coming out of the Thanksgiving break, we see the press was not at all calmed by the time off. Probably a result of being contentious in lingering fashion, after arguing politics with family members over the stuffing. (We are hazarding a guess here.)
Regardless of the cause, our media members were rather edgy and full of the usual holiday distemper. Occupied as they were with the manufactured Venezuelan boat strikes “scandal,” there was also the news that, after years, it had been revealed who planted those pipe bombs on January 5, 2021. In their zeal to label the suspect a Trump supporter, the press had to ignore some details, such as the suspect reportedly building the bombs over a year before the election, which went unexposed during the Biden years, and the small matter that a bomb was also found at the Republican headquarters.
So yes, our press corps was right back at it with their slanted, skewed, and sour version of journalism. That makes it time to pull on the hip waders once again and slog through this week’s media mayhem to determine who was this past week’s “winner”.
THE CONTENDERS
Washington Post – As the drug boats' second strike accusations began to unravel, the narrative shifted to how the initial strikes should be seen as problematic. The paper also saw fit to find sympathy for the Afghan shooter who killed two National Guard members. The outlet saw a need to do a profile on Rosie O’Donnell and her dedication to “her craft.”
CNN - There was breathless coverage that the apprehended pipe bomber was possibly MAGA, which was quickly dispelled… by its own reporting. For reasons still a mystery, Jake Tapper rushed on the air to declare the J-6 pipe bomber was a “white man.” Keith Ellison was just the latest in a string of Democrats coming on shows to do image repair. As a sign of needing to shore up cash reserves amid sinking ratings, the network announced it was striking a deal with the betting app Kalshi, as well as entering into an agreement with the nation of Qatar. Brian Stelter said the White House site exposing media lies will delegitimize the press.
ABC News – Instead of investigating the sprawling fraud scandal in Minnesota, the network worked to defend the Somali community from criticism. Then, in a similar fashion, it wants to sell the concept that men in high-powered watercraft with quad-outboards and no angling gear are “fishermen.” They looked into the motives of the shooter of the National Guard troops and took a sympathetic view while ignoring reports that he called out “Allahu Akbar.”

The outlet was quick to describe the pipe bomb suspect as a Trump supporter, even as his family described him as an autistic man with no political opinions.
Rachel Maddow delivered a convoluted conspiracy about President Trump attacking drug boats to get into a battle with Venezuela, which would allow him to invoke the War Powers Act, all so he will be able to deport Venezuelans freely. (Why he wants to deport those folks is not addressed.)
Ken Dilanian provided a corrupt hit piece on Kash Patel that was not only rooted in rumors, but when asked by officials for specifics, he had none, and his piece was edited on the sly.
Jacob Soboroff has a sympathetic interview with the co-ed who was deported while traveling for Thanksgiving, but needed to ignore that she had a standing deportation order for over a decade.
After years of denying that Biden was in mental decline, Nicolle Wallace now says that with Trump, it is plainly evident he shows signs of deterioration.
Laughably, Stephanie Ruhle tried to deny that her network has a leftist bias.
