It has been something bordering (pun unintentional) on fascination to see the press continually delivering false stories of illegal immigrant detentions. Consistently, these are framed sympathetically, and usually condemn the ICE authorities as well, and then end up becoming exposed by DHS, as the rap sheet of those apprehended is displayed. This past week has had glaring examples.
We also look into the coverage of the D.C. National Guard issue, with the press opposing the concept of fighting crime. The results have been favorable, and the District’s police union has not only been in favor of the involvement but has shown the positive results – results the press wants to avoid.
The Washington Post had a scathing report claiming Pete Hegseth was requiring an untenable amount of security to be provided for his extended family, supposedly straining the Army division in charge of his detail. The amazement is that in the same critical piece, they provide the explanation why this is a needed enterprise. Then we look at the way the press has slavishly raved about California Governor Gavin Newsom has broadened social media presence, and the way his account is actually defying his own approach to political social posting.
Now, crack one open and savor some outmoded media malpractice and misinformation.

The local news report of a D.C. immigration arrest had the media falling over themselves.
After condemning the arrest of a sexual predator and demonizing ICE agents, Jessica Tarlov had to slink back her comments.
Even after this served as another case of the press leaping to assumptions, Newsweek did the very same thing in another case.
The Washington Post questions why Pete Hegseth needs security for his family across the country, then gives the very reason why it was needed.
Wolf Blitzer gave us the image of a scary military vehicle outside the Capitol.
The crime stats have plummeted since President Trump sent troops into D.C.
There were zero murders in D.C. for a week - in the summer - which has not happened for so long that few can remember the last time that happened.
Gavin Newsom’s social account is using AI imagery, such as a fake Kid Rock endorsement and another suggesting the Trump assassination attempt was faked. This is the same Gavin Newsom who pushed 18 anti-AI laws to be enacted, including those involving political imagery and deception.
