Worst Outlet of the Week - Who Took Bottom Honors in the Latest Round of Dysfunctional Media?

It was a curious week in the media realm with a number of conflicting episodes playing out. There was the rather selective outrage seen over the release of documents, with a stark contradiction taking place in real time. The hunger for a presidential scandal was such that there was a constant squealing to have documents released – regarding Jeffrey Epstein. Then, at the very same time, as actual government documents were being offered (Tulsi Gabbard’s release of the Russian collusion details), the same press was complaining about that form of transparency.

We also had Hunter Biden going off unhinged, with journos ignoring salient details, there was continued braying about Stephen Colbert being cancelled, and more fallout from the defunding of public broadcasting. There was plenty for the media to spin, and they appeared off balance for much of the time. As such, measuring badness was a challenge, but let’s tug on the hip waders and begin trudging through the muck and mire that is our media complex and determine who took top (bottom) honors this week.

     THE CONTENDERS

"Pod Save America" – Hunter Biden gave an interview slamming Democrats, and the podcast attacked Hunter with facts – namely, that years earlier they attacked people on the right for pointing this out. The left-leaning Obama Bros were a solid source of comedy. Co-host Tommy Vietor tried to suggest Israel was to blame for aid not reaching Palestinians when it was revealed later that thousands of pallets of U.N. aid were sitting dormant inside Gaza. To discuss the Stephen Colbert "controversy,” they, of course, drew in Brian Stelter to deliver his fractured impressions. As Time Magazine gave a list of the Top-100 podcasts, the guys failed to make the list.

NBC News – They reported that Tulsi Gabbard releasing thousands of documents was her “rewriting history” regarding Russian collusion. Then they gave an interview with one of the officials who wrote many of those files and declared Gabbard lied about the contents – which were released so those contents could actually be seen. The outlet gave a ridiculously fawning report on a Seattle woman who claimed she put her cat down because the noise from the Blue Angels flying over her home caused it distress. The outlet even reported that the crazy cat lady had been censored after members of the Blue Angels squadron blocked her on social media.

Public Broadcasting Service – It was discovered that PBS had been using taxpayer funds to make protection payments to the Poynter organization. After years of wailing that defunding public broadcasting would be disastrous, “The PBS NewsHour” came out to state they are in fact not going anywhere. Later it was reported that PBS was experiencing record amounts of donations after the defunding – exactly what those wanting defunding had called to take place. The outlet basically admitted it did not look over the documents released by Gabbard, accusing her of sowing doubt in the investigation. We got a dose of their unbiased news reporting as they brought on a DEI professor to say that Columbia University basically paid a ransom to President Trump.

Politico – The outlet wants to lead the charge on the Jeffrey Epstein files involving President Trump (all while dismissing the Russian collusion scandal). It claimed those documents were released to distract from Epstein. Then to make their point, Politico went on a tear and spewed forth with half a dozen more items on Epstein inside of a 24-hour period

     THE WINNER

CNN

The network’s extremism correspondent Donie O’Sullivan continues to ignore leftist extremism, as he looks back to claim those accurately saying Covid originated in a lab were still racist.

Many in the press hailed Kaitlan Collins for her challenging question about the Tulsi Gabbard files released, but few highlighted how Gabbard and Karoline Leavitt humiliated Collins by delivering cold facts about the documents.

CNN had on a security analyst to explain why it was not necessary to actually analyze the files released by Gabbard.

Andrew Kaczinski claimed he “uncovered” photos of Epstein at Trump’s wedding – from 30 years ago, which have long been made public.

As the network was desperately trying to sow division with Republicans, John King came on to declare he spoke with a number of Trump voters and could not find any breaking away from the president.

Intelligence correspondent Natasha Bertrand was shamed after it was revealed recently that Iran’s nuclear program is likely ground to a halt for years.

Juliette Kayyem explained James Clapper was nearly breaking down on camera, not because he is about to be indicted, but because he is weeping for our nation.

Their media maven Brian Stelter tried to cling to Colbert being cancelled by Trump, even after he asserted that CBS insiders confirmed it was because the show was losing tens of millions of dollars a year.

In looking at the stock market hitting record highs, the network had to find a way to spin this as a negative.
