NBC News Butchers Statistics, Suggests There's an Acceptable Level of Murders by Illegal Immigrants

It is somewhere between amusing and pathetic how much struggling is taking place in the press regarding the Iran bombing mission. After slamming Trump as ineffectual, they are now struggling to impugn his effectiveness. All the while there is still the needed effort (in their eyes) to condemn his deportation efforts, and the desperation on one issue highlights the flailing on display in covering the other. The whole media complex is in a shame spiral.

In a sterling example of the immigration ineptitude, we have NBC looking into the stats of those people currently detained and deported and coming to conclusions that defy rational thought. In citing the announcements made by the Tom Homan-led ICE that there would be a focus on arresting the worst offenders known in the illegal immigrant databases, NBC looked into the status of the nearly 200,000 detainees and concluded that an inordinate number of those taken in are not the hardened criminals allegedly promised.

The main complaint is that despite boasting of targeting the worst, only six percent of those detained are convicted murderers, and 11 percent are sexual offenders. Of course, like most of the immigration coverage in the past few months, there is fractured reporting taking place. For starters Homan & Co. did not say they would only detain hardened criminals; they just said they would be prioritized at times. Additionally, they are not finished. Of note, NBC News attests that of the roughly 185,000 detainees a much higher figure has been convicted of crimes – just over 65,000. And those are just convictions, not those charged.

We are pretty sure the word “only” is in poor use when discussing murderers. “Any” is a favorable statistic, while “more” is even better. Next we see subjective tabulations are in play. In a move meant to dilute the figures they include those illegals who were rounded up since last October. That means the “non-criminal” detainee totals are inflated by including nearly four months of apprehensions under the Joe Biden term. Then we see that they do not even use the percentage accurately. In the opening paragraph they stipulate that it is considered a small percentage of the known immigrant offenders in the database, not of those who have been detained.

After six months of aggressive immigration enforcement and promises to focus on deporting violent criminals, the Trump administration has arrested and detained a small fraction of the undocumented immigrants already known to Immigration and Customs Enforcement as having been convicted of sexual assault and homicide, internal ICE data obtained by NBC News shows.

They then go on to say that nearly half of those taken in by ICE have not been convicted or charged with a crime. We have to, of course, overlook the concept that being in this country illegally is itself a crime, in order to develop this claim of 50 percent innocence among those… illegally in the country. Also, this report basically disassembles the prior narratives heard from the press for months that immigrants commit far less crime than American citizens. Once again, the actual crime rate among illegal immigrants is 100 percent.

Just to add to the dysfunctional thinking, senior correspondent Yamiche Alcindor tried promoting this article and she stepped in it as well. Her entry reflected the fractured logic of the piece, was promptly Community-Noted, and she deleted the post.
