The Worst News Outlet of the Week - a Look at the Latest Deliveries From the Dysfunctional Media

This week there were a few stories percolating for a few days. We saw the annual top honors for journalism doled out, there was ongoing controversy and drama surrounding President Trump’s executive order to pull the funding from public broadcasting, and there was an ongoing desire in the press to find sympathy for not only illegal immigrants but to show the negative impact our border policy has on the cartels and human traffickers.

Yes, seriously.

It almost appeared that as the media were given more examples of the adverse activities they engage in, leading to audience flight, the more insistent they were to continue those actions. Let’s start mucking around in the media swamps and see who took top (bottom) honors this week.

    THE CONTENDERS

CNN - The network literally sat with a Mexican cartel member for an interview on the negative effects the tough U.S. border policy has had on their work, as well as the offensive way Trump has called them “terrorists.” After Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested for storming a holding facility, Kaitlan Collins allowed him to lie about what was captured on video. They had to note that the new Pope had said critical things about President Trump, and also hoped a Pope who speaks English could get through to Trump. Brian Stelter encouraged the media to forgo objectivity and stop being pacifists with the president.

MSNBC – Jen Psaki told Ben Smith that she never saw Biden’s mental decline until the disastrous debate. Later, Psaki insulted Trump’s lack of foreign trade deals -- just minutes before he announced a landmark trade deal with Britain. The new MSNBC schedule sees a variety of shows receiving dramatically lower ratings, even losing Joy Reid’s previous audience. The network had to issue an on-air retraction of a false report about Kash Patel partying in Las Vegas instead of working.

Politico The outlet broke the story of a DC journalist, Hanna Trudo, who will be running for Congress as - unsurprisingly - a Democrat. They quoted her without comment as she declared she is “a journalist who’s tired of writing the same story about how Democrats keep losing to Republicans and failing us.” In the outlet’s Women Rule newsletter, they featured a trans woman fighting Trump’s call-for-ban on trans service members, featuring that “she” has served for 20 years. The truth is the pilot had not come out as trans until 2019. In an amazing serving of obliviousness, the European version of Politico declared that some Vatican clerics were unsure of the process of selecting the Pope, so they consulted a source – the 2024 motion picture “Conclave.”

Pulitzer Prize Committee – The authorities on journalism excellence gave their top honor to ProPublica for a series of fraudulent abortion stories. The Breaking News award went to the Washington Post when it reported on “loud noises” during the Donald Trump assassination attempt. The committee was lit up by a former Israeli hostage who noted the “journalist” they gave a Pulitzer to for coverage in Gaza was a denier about her captivity and other aspects that Hamas was engaged in.

PUBLIC BROADCASTING SERVICE

David Brooks came out with the identical talking points of NPR’s CEO, claiming they deliver news “straight down the middle.”

Jonathan Capehart insisted that defunding PBS was a violation of the Constitution – which was written 200 years before the creation of his network.

Capehart said this on the same outlet that had virulent anti-Constitutionalist Elie Mystal on for a lengthy segment to spew his bile.

On “The PBS Newshour” they declared that efforts to protect Jewish students from antisemitic attacks on campus were a “chilling effect” on free speech.

During a sympathetic interview on “Face The Nation,” the CEO did little to improve the fortunes of her possibly defunded outlet.

The “straight down the middle” network had a cloying interview with Nancy Pelosi in which host Geoff Bennett asked a number of pro-Democrat questions, and afterward there was applause for Pelosi from the crew.
