It has not even been a week since the attempt on Donald Trump’s life was made. This is just Day Six, and stepping back and watching the reactions reveals so much on the Left. Already, the press members are shaming themselves (further — yes, we know), the Democratic Party leadership resembles a kicked-over anthill, and now we get proof their voting base is devolving into a hive of overheated hysterics.
As expected, there is no shortage of galaxy-brained theorems across social media concerning the July 13 shooting, forwarding any variation on what transpired as opposed to what happened. I had one such exchange (now deleted) where the claim was that Trump’s injuries had been staged. Amused by this, when I asked for an explanation of how this could be the case when there was a fatality and two others in critical care, I was told those victims were genuine, but Trump’s injury had been planned days in advance.
These are people, amazingly, still permitted to use eating utensils at their peril. But they are in surplus supply on social media, and hardly a surprise. What is more head-turning are the results from a recent Morning Consult poll showing how widespread this mindset has become within the Democrat voting base. In that survey released this week, respondents were asked several questions regarding the shooting from last weekend, and one result is illuminating. Or disturbing. Also mirthful, in the obliviousness on display.
Most results were in line with expectations. In the poll, roughly 60 percent of those answering chalked the shooting up to the overheated discourse in the country, and just over half were “very concerned” that more such violence may erupt. Looking into the metrics one return in particular stands out. When asked about their impressions about “suggestions that the shooting was staged and not intended to kill former President Donald Trump were credible or not,” one-third of Biden supporters agreed that this could be the case.
A post-shooting poll by Morning Consult shows Democrat voters are MORE conspiratorial than Q-anon had ever been measured with GOP.

Over one-third of Dems believe the shooting may have been staged. The press has no comment, unlike years of "Q" accusations.https://t.co/DBw6oOXt5d pic.twitter.com/PjrHk7N8Qk
Looking back, we see that for years, the press complex in this country cited QAnon conspiracies as something that was not only prevalent but was basically the driving force of Republican policy. The revealing aspect is that for all of the talk ever heard regarding QAnon, it was mostly seen in the media. Rare would be a time you heard it organically floated in conservative circles, social media threads, and such. You did, however, see the press frequently straining to stipulate that certain party agenda items would become relabeled as “Q” policy.
Yet all that time, you could not find reputable polls that showed Republican voters were adherents of “Q” to this level. That 33 percent of Democrats are open to the idea that Trump’s shooting was a fabrication is reflective of how poorly the past couple of months have been for all concerned on the left. Biden and the Democrats are certainly in a state of complete upheaval, the sympathetic press members have been scrambling to retain some measure of legitimacy, and the voters are cast into a state of utter dismay.
This becomes yet another way the media have been exposed in recent weeks. After showing us — for years — that conspiracy followers were supposedly a pox on politics, it is notable that today, we see no such enthusiastic coverage of such a large swath of Democrats buying into these theories. Maybe one reason contributing to this press apathy is the number of journalists who are believing the nonsense themselves.
how often have AR-15 bullets "pierced" part of someone's body, "ripping through the skin," while leaving the body part intact and without serious injury?
