Utah Governor Spencer Cox has set the record straight in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, directly contradicting left-wing attempts to claim the Charlie Kirk assassin was "right-wing."
As RedState reported, there has been a perverse, incoherent attempt to try to blame Kirk's assassination not only on himself, but to suggest left-wing ideology played no role in the heinous crime. One of the latest to do it was disgraced former congressman Adam Kinzinger, who put out this post on Saturday morning.

As more info comes in this needs to be said: if it wasn’t some left wing radical that did it, and it appears it wasn’t, there need to be massive pushback because they are STILL pretending it’s some culture war and it is only in their own minds

Dangerous times
According to Cox, though, who has direct involvement in the investigation, it is "very clear" to investigators that Tyler Robinson was "indoctrinated with leftist ideology."
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said one of Tyler Robinson’s family members told investigators Tyler had become more political in recent years. The family member said at a recent dinner, Robinson and a second relative discussed Kirk’s coming outdoor event on the Utah Valley campus in Orem.
“They talked about why they didn’t like him and the viewpoints that he had,” Cox, a Republican, said at a news briefing Friday.
“It’s very clear to us and to the investigators that this was a person who was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology,” Cox added in an interview with the Journal.
That last quote is from an interview that hasn't been fully released yet, so it's possible Cox had even more to say to the Journal about what the authorities know. We'll have to wait and see.
Regardless, the purpose here is not to pronounce a definitive motive before official confirmation is given. The purpose is to push back on this disgusting attempt by the left to slander Kirk, and in some cases, celebrate his murder, while simultaneously claiming his killer couldn't possibly be on the left. It's not only a clear partisan attempt to avoid culpability regarding their continual labeling of Republicans as "fascists," but it is also dangerous in that it allows for zero introspection about what led up to this horrific tragedy.
It's likewise extremely important that we do not let the left have free rein to create their own narratives.
This is why you don't play along with the "let's all just wait and find out the motive over days and weeks" because the plan is to buy the left time to build the narrative they want. https://t.co/7qWqzb8Uoq

Notably, the headline from The Daily Beast quoted above, which cites Tyler Robinson's grandmother, is a purposeful attempt to mislead. If you actually read the article, she says that she has never spoken to her grandson about his politics, meaning she would not know anything about them. The insinuation that because his parents were Republicans, he must have been a Republican (all evidence says he wasn't) is nonsensical and transparently manipulative.
Regardless, believe me when I say that the last thing I want to be doing is having to push back on all this nonsense. I'd much rather be able to express my condolences and for everyone to accept the reality of the situation. The left will not let that happen, though. Thus, we are left with no choice but to fight back against this kind of blatant disinformation meant to smear Kirk and to obscure the ideology that so unfairly demonized him.
