The former Biden administration continues its meltdown after top Kamala Harris adviser David Plouffe went on the record to absolutely trash Joe Biden.

Quoted in Jake Tapper's new book, which we'll get to because that's a whole other scandal (on the CNN host's part), Plouffe called Harris' campaign a "nightmare" and placed the blame squarely on the former president. For context, his language was a bit more "choice," shall we say, but this is a family-friendly site.

David Plouffe, who was a key adviser for the Harris campaign, blamed the then-veep’s election loss squarely on the ex-commander in chief, according to a new book CNN’s Jake Tapper co-authored.

Plouffe — a senior adviser in Obama’s White House — was quoted ripping Harris’ 107-day campaign against Donald Trump as a “******* nightmare,” according to an excerpt obtained by The Guardian.

“And it’s all Biden,” he told the authors. “He totally ****** us.”

Plouffe went on to claim that he brought up concerns about Biden's health after his campaign-ending debate performance in late June of 2024. By then, it was far too late, though, and that's probably the biggest takeaway here. These Harris hangers-on want to pretend there was just nothing they could have done, but no one made them spend years on end covering up Biden's mental and physical decline, only to try to flip the switch three months before election day because the situation became so untenable. 

Another strategist quoted in the book called Biden's attempt to run again an "abomination."

“It was an abomination. He stole an election from the Democratic party; he stole it from the American people,” a prominent Democratic strategist added.

But again, why should any of us take anything these people say seriously when they had the chance to do the right thing when it would have actually mattered? No credit is due for trying to force Biden out after the debate. That's like watching your house burn to the ground and then trying to put water on the ashes. The damage was already done by that point, and worse, Harris and her team participated in the cover-up, claiming reports on Biden's disturbing descent into senility were "cheap fakes."

I'll also reiterate that the idea that Harris would have won had the American people just seen more of her is a laughable contention. Her best days were during the first month of her campaign, when she was largely buttoned down and hidden from voters. When she started giving interviews and her exposure increased, her numbers began to collapse. Why? Because Harris was and remains a historically awful, unpopular politician. That wasn't going to change had Biden not run again. In fact, I'm very skeptical Harris would have even won an open primary had one occurred. 

Now, to address Tapper, it is unbelievable that he's dumping all this out now and wants a pat on the head (and millions in book revenue) for it. Yes, it's good that this stuff is being exposed because it will hopefully ensure something like this never happens again, but this is stuff that should have been released during the 2024 election. To hold onto it until it no longer matters politically is not journalistic integrity. It's partisan manipulation.
