The new House GOP majority is hitting the ground running, and things exploded during a hearing on Big Tech censorship. Marjorie Taylor Green and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took turns questioning Yoel Roth, who infamously headed up Twitter’s Trust and Safety division before Elon Musk took over.

For her part, Greene lit into the panel of witnesses, which also included Vijaya Gadde, the person behind the banning of Donald Trump and who played a key role in leading Twitter’s censorship regime.

Greene used that quip to introduce a round of questioning on election interference, noting that Twitter directly engaged in activity that put its thumb on the scale. Major Republican accounts were banned prior to the 2022 election for completely unjustifiable reasons. How big of an effect that had on the electorate isn’t really quantifiable, but when you muzzle one side of the political aisle, it belabors belief to say that didn’t affect things.

Things got more heated from there when Greene told the panel she was “glad you lost your jobs.” Then she dropped a bomb on Roth’s head, pointing out that child pornography was allowed to maintain a strong presence on Twitter under his watch. Greene even went so far as to reference Roth’s college dissertation, which argued that minors should have access to the gay hook-up app Grindr.

Toward the end of the clip, Greene pulled out poster boards of the tweets that got her banned. All of them were related to COVID-19, including a citation of deaths shown on the CDC’s website and the assertion that vaccines should not be mandated. That was enough for Twitter to tag Greene’s posts as COVID-19 “misinformation” and permanently ban her.

But while Greene had her moment of revenge, at least as far as chiding those who silenced her qualifies as that, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez showed up with a great big helping of dishonesty and idiocy to add to the table.

While questioning Roth, Ocasio-Cortez accused Libs of TikTok of lying about Boston Children’s Hospital.

The reality is that Ocasio-Cortez is the one who is lying. Nothing Libs of TikTok (or Matt Walsh for that matter) reported on Boston Children’s Hospital was false. All of it was well-documented, not by secondary sources, but by the hospital itself (as the video above shows). It was the hospital that bragged about being a world-class facility for transgender surgeries for minors. It was the hospital that told Libs of TikTok, who was posing as a parent during a phone call, that they offered “gender-affirming” hysterectomies for kids.

Despite that, Roth banned Libs of TikTok anyway and apparently has no remorse if his answer to Ocasio-Cortez is any indication. Remember, these are the people that controlled speech on the internet for years and years. Had Elon Musk not come along and forced the sale of Twitter, the same regressive hacks would still be in charge of the most politically influential social media site in existence.

It’s disturbing to think about how bad things were, and it’s equally disturbing to see powerful politicians continue to support such illiberal insanity. Ocasio-Cortez would turn the United States into the Soviet Union, complete with her own Pravda, if she could. No one should doubt that.
