A mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas has claimed the lives of 14 students as well as a teacher. The suspect also shot his grandmother prior to the rampage. Others are injured, including at least one woman in critical condition. The shooter was killed by responding officers, some of which were reportedly part of the Border Patrol.

Gov. Greg Abbott gave a press conference on Tuesday afternoon in which he revealed the horrifying news. He also identified the shooter as an 18-year-old named Salvador Romas.

The shooter was a student at the high school, which likely means this was a targeted event and not the result of an off-campus chase gone bad as was originally reported. As for further information about his background and motivations, we simply don’t have those answers yet. You can bet people are scouring social media to find that stuff out, though.
What has happened here is unspeakable. Evil is real, and I can’t imagine what the parents of those children are going through right now.
