With Joe Biden announcing a vaccine mandate on private businesses yesterday, the country entered a new era of federal power, one that is seemingly limitless in its ability to suppress individual rights. And while some national GOP figures quickly devolved into the typical talking points and empty promises, others are rallying around a theme I wrote in my initial impressions yesterday — do not comply.

Ben Shapiro and The Daily Wire are putting their company on the line to make that point. This morning on Fox News, the top-rated conservative podcast host laid out how they plan to fight back and not comply.

This is exactly what needs to happen. Joe Biden can read whatever he wants off his teleprompter, but it’s up to the American people to decide how they are going to respond. When it comes to businesses that are affected by the vaccine mandate, a strategy of non-compliance is the most direct way to push back. Make Joe Biden enforce his unconstitutional dictates, and if he tries to, take him to court.

But it can’t just be The Daily Wire that takes this step. Thousands of affected businesses need to join the effort because the more people stand in the gap, the harder it will be for the government to follow through. Inundate OSHA with administrative work and lawsuits, making the plan to strip workers of their individual rights untenable. Further, individual workers need to join forces to push back and file lawsuits, if businesses try to move forward with firings.

Lastly, Republican politicians, who have been given the platform they enjoy by voters, need to get out from behind their feckless, written statements and start pointedly leading on this issue. That may lead to CNN and MSNBC saying bad things about them. That can’t be a concern right now.

In the end, I have no idea if lawsuits will succeed, but this is a time for choosing. I’m skeptical that the Supreme Court, if and when this reaches them, will have the guts to rule strictly on the law and not some distorted sense of public concern. Yet, what Biden is doing here is too tyrannical to go along with. Now is the time to take a stand and to accept whatever the consequences may be. The Daily Wire deserves all the credit in the world for doing just that.
