Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono is a certified insane person. That’s been known for a while, yet she continues to up the bar every time she ends up in the spotlight during a hearing. After previously trying to disqualify Amy Coney Barrett over her religion back in 2017, something that’s blatantly unconstitutional, Hirono strapped on the water skis and had the guy driving the boat floor it towards the shark in today’s confirmation hearing.

This woman is legitimately the dumbest person to ever serve in the U.S. Senate, and that’s a position with an awful lot of competition.

Yes, I’m sure the petite mother of seven who has had a distinguished law career and now serves as an appellate judge is out there raping folks. Hide your kids and your wife, because Amy Coney Barrett is on the prowl or something.

All of this is so stupid, but it was Hirono’s attempts at explaining legal theory that were perhaps even worse. I mean, it’s easy to ask a ridiculous question about whether Amy Coney Barrett has committed rape or sexual harassment, but it takes real effort to get things as wrong as Hirono gets them in this next clip.

Hirono is legitimately upset that Barrett is pledging to interpret the law as it is written by Congress. In what was a convoluted, nonsensical series of “questioning,” the Hawaii Senator decides that judges should in fact rule based on sympathies and not the law. Think about how crazy that is? Hirono also apparently has no idea what a term as basic as “severability” means. Keep in mind, this woman graduated from Georgetown with a law degree. My word, if there was ever sufficient proof a university should be shut down, this qualifies.

Honestly, maybe we should abolish the Senate just to stop Hirono from ever speaking publicly again? I’m only half joking at this point.

Overall, though, Amy Coney Barrett took all of this in stride today. She crushed it in a way that not even Kavanaugh or Gorsuch were able to do at their hearings. Barrett is smart, witty, and always has a command of the facts, including her past positions. Most importantly, she is an originalist who understands the proper place of the judiciary. That’s why she scares the crap out of the left.
