Watch: Damning Thread Illustrates Chris Wallace's Worst Debate Moments

As I wrote the morning after Tuesday’s presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, Chris Wallace’s performance as “moderator” was absolutely disgraceful (see Chris Wallace’s Debate Performance Was Absolutely Disgraceful). Here’s a taste of that.

But perhaps the biggest abdication of Wallace’s duty involved the very beginning of the debate. Biden was asked if he supports packing the court, one of the most damaging, consequential possibilities in modern American history. When Biden refused to answer the question, Wallace simply moved on.  When Trump tried to press, Biden told him to shut up and Wallace just let it happen. It was astonishing to watch.

Now, the video clips have been edited and you can see exactly how incredibly out of line he got throughout the proceedings if you were lucky enough to have not watched yourself. From refusing to press Biden on key questions to ending debate altogether when it might benefit Trump, there was no mystery about whose side he was on.

Credit to Greg Price over at The Daily Caller for putting this together.

As I said in my original reaction piece, this was probably the worst moment of the night, not because it was the most embarrassing for Wallace, but because it was most consequential. How does Joe Biden continue to get away with not answering if he’s going to pack the court? It’s absolutely insane, but it’s more insane that a supposed serious newsman like Wallace (who works for Fox News, mind you) would actually seek to protect Biden in this exchange.

The question on Critical Race Theory was absolute abhorrent. Instead of allowing Trump to answer honestly about the disgusting nature of such ideology, Wallace decided to play dumb and pretend it’s just run of the mill “racial sensitivity training.” I say play dumb because he knew exactly what he was doing. Now, media outlets like NPR and running with that language as a way to obscure the truth.

Great job Wallace.

Here are the rest of the clips. They are all worth your time.

Wallace was just a joke of a moderator. It’s clear he let his emotions and biases get the best of him within the first 15 minutes of the debate. I knew he was sympathetic to Joe Biden (Wallace is a Democrat after all), but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. But it was this bad.

At what point does a Republican get to moderate one of these debates? The next two moderators are also noted liberals from liberal outlets. Nothing is going to change or get better. Instead, they are now suggesting they have the ability to mute Trump’s mic. It’s going to be insane. Buckle up.
