Apparently, only Donald Trump can use “dog whistles,” because Rep. Ayanna Pressley used a pretty big one this morning to the collective shrugs of the mainstream media. I’m not even sure it qualifies as a dog whistle, given it’s a fairly direct call to action. It’s more like a dog shout.

Here are the comments in question. Pressley was on Joy Reid’s old show and called for “unrest in the streets” targeting Republicans.

It’s cliche at this point and always assumed, but if a Republican went on Fox News and told their voters to create “unrest in the streets” targeting Democrat office holders, the melt downs would be absolutely epic. CNN would lead every hour for several days straight opinion on how dangerous such calls are and how Republicans want people to get hurt. Yet, when a Democrat like Pressley does it, they smile and nod along. To be clear, if you watch the video, that’s exactly what the host does. She’s practically giddy at the idea of targeting Republicans with “unrest.”

Let’s not kid ourselves. We all know what “unrest” means in this instance. It means mobs of people rioting and going to the homes of Republican officials and office holders to threaten their families. In fact, that’s happening right now outside the home of the USPS Postmaster General. The media don’t care at all. Meanwhile, the humorously tepid actions of the Tea Party were treated like the second coming of the Nazi Party, complete with “violence” asserted to be just around every corner.

The media’s bias on this issue is deeply disturbing and damaging. They are normalizing harassment and physical confrontation by left-wingers simply because someone may disagree with them. Instead eliciting condemnation, these media outlets rush to promote this stuff, assure us that things are “mostly peaceful,” at outright gaslight the American people.

Something has to give or the only possible outcome is going to be more violence. People are not going to sit idly by forever as others block streets, threaten their families, and lay siege to their homes and neighborhoods. Now more than ever, we need a responsible media that can help cool tensions. Instead, we have the dumpster fire that currently exists, which actively encourages mob rule.
