Over the last several years, one of the creepier trends in the media and on social media has been the telling of “woke kid” stories. These usually revolve around a child, typically aged six to ten, being claimed to have made some deep, partisan pronouncement to their parents in language that often seems completely implausible. These pronouncements always just so happen to bend to the parent’s preconceived political biases to the letter. The stories, to the extent that any of them are actually true, are supposed to show just how awful Republicans are. I mean, if even children can see their evil, then they must be really bad, right?

And while I’ve heard a lot of these stories, MSNBC provided one yesterday that may top the charts.

I’m not sure exactly what analyst is doing the talking here, but she tells the tale of her 8-year-old hearing the news that Kamala Harris had gotten the VP nod on Biden’s ticket. She describes her daughter’s eyes as “getting big” and saying “my goodness, she’s South Asian and Jamaican, that means anything is possible for a woman.”

Can I get a show of hands of who thinks this happened? Come on, this is not a thing that happened. The idea that her 8-year-old knows the dual ethnic backgrounds of Kamala Harris is so far-fetched as to be laughable. In fact, until a day or so ago, you would have struggled to find a media personality even talking about it because it wasn’t politically expedient to acknowledge her Indian heritage prior. But even if this 8-year-old did know that, is she really going to say Harris is “South Asian” instead of just Indian? None of this even begins to pass the smell test.

Which brings me to my second point. Why do Democrats think it’s acceptable to continue to use their kids as political pawns like this? How obsessively partisan does one have to be to make up a story about their child to push a political narrative? And how does any of this nonsense pass as non-biased analysis on a supposed news network?

But this is just another example of the absolute fawning praise the media are showing and will continue to show Harris. She is their new Barack Obama, and if that means lying about their own kids to fluff their favored politician, then so be it.
