This is yet another reminder of how easy being a Democrat is. You can literally say anything about your opponents without an ounce of push back.

Last night, Nancy Pelosi accused Sen. Tim Scott, a black man, of murdering George Floyd because she doesn’t like the police reform bill he’s leading.

It’s cliche at this point, but imagine if a white Republican accused Cory Booker of murdering another black man because they didn’t like his policy solutions. Anyone think CNN’s prime time hosts might make that a story? For CBS News’ part, there radio show host offered no rebuttal at all to the outrageous statement.

Perhaps Pelosi being 80 years old is clouding her judgement at this point? She does seem to have a Joe Biden-esque inability to control herself lately. Whatever it is, it’s insane. The news media are going around freaking out that Trump made a “Kung Flu” joke and calling him racist. Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House is saying Tim Scott and his colleagues murdered George Floyd and it’s all shrugs.

Even if you want to take her comments seriously, something they don’t deserve, her point is ridiculous. She’s mad because the Republican bill doesn’t outright ban submission holds. One, I’m not sure the Congress can do that. Two, while a submission hold went badly in the Eric Gardner case, there is an argument that such maneuvers are the only way for an officer to subdue a larger suspect without just resorting to outright fighting. Everything has consequences and those need to be thought through. Will more people end up shot if submission holds are banned? It actually seems possible that could happen.

Regardless, Pelosi should probably apologize for this insane remark. She won’t though, because no one will demand she does. Instead, the media will make excuses as they always do.
