Nancy Pelosi set a new record for shamelessness this week after she attempted to take credit for the passage of a relief bill for small businesses. In reality, it was Pelosi and her colleagues that held the bill up for over a week, attempting to add bailouts for blue states in the process. I covered her attempt several days to blame Republicans by claiming it was Mitch McConell actually stalling things out (see Pelosi Brazenly Lies About Small Business Loan Funding Bill, Apparently Doesn’t Realize Video Exists).
Here’s that video.
Unreal, Nancy Pelosi blames Mitch McConnell for delaying the latest Wuhan coronavirus relief bill: "Mitch McConnell likes to say that we delayed the bill. No, he delayed the bill…So he was the one wasting time." pic.twitter.com/DUE2spL7n0

Now that the bill has passed, Fox News’ Bret Baier is pointing out that Pelosi’s revisionism is nonsense. He went on to call her statements “political jiu-jitsu” while giving a breakdown at the end of The Five yesterday.
“Let's set the record straight. Once Republicans found out the PPP was going to run dry, there was a clean bill to replenish it. Nancy Pelosi didn't go for it. Period. So to say that the delay was Mitch McConnell's fault is just political jiujitsu for Nancy Pelosi.” @FoxNews pic.twitter.com/YUwqxRTUsT

You know, I respect Baier’s way with words here, but it’d be easier to just say she lied, because that’s exactly what she did. With as a straight a face as she can muster these days, Pelosi is lying by claiming that the GOP had anything to do with the bill not being passed last week.
In the meantime, millions of people lost their jobs who might still have them today if not for Democrats playing politics. Republicans gave them a clean bill which focused only on what needed to be done in that moment, and they rejected it. That’s on them. That’s on Pelosi. The attempts by her, her caucus, and the media to pretend otherwise are deeply dishonest.
I’ll also point out that their excuses for why they held the bill up are also nonsense. While they claim it was about funds for hospitals, that fund was not even close to running out of money. In contrast, the PPP fund had completely run dry at the time. In fact, the hospital fund still had money in it the day the new relief bill finally passed. There was no emergency there as there was with small business loans. Democrats chose to operate as cowards, hiding behind doctors and nurses instead of just telling the truth.
They’ll no doubt get away with it though. The media certainly won’t call them to account.
