Apparently, Donald Trump isn’t tired of winning yet. He just got another big court victory, and in a place you’d least expect.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that it is constitutional for the government to not give free money to abortion clinics. The fact that this was even a question, having to go all the way to the 9th Circuit, shows how crazy the #resistance within the judiciary has gotten.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Monday that the Trump administration can continue stripping federal funding from clinics that offer abortions.

The court upheld the Trump administration’s June 2019 declaration that taxpayer-funded clinics must stop referring women for abortions or be stripped of their Title X funding.

Judge Sandra Ikuta wrote Monday’s majority opinion, stating that “there is no ‘gag’ on [nondirective] abortion counseling.”

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) followed the decision in June by alerting clinics that it would enforce the administration’s ban. Planned Parenthood withdrew from the Title X federal family planning program, thereby forgoing about $60 million a year, in August 2019 rather than comply with this decision.

It’s easy to get so caught up in the daily grind of politics and forget that something as awful as elective abortion is legal in this country. More babies are killed in just late term abortions (those things Democrats claim don’t exist) than all gun violence combined. Yet, a significant portion of the country and a major political party have managed to delude themselves into thinking it’s not a moral travesty.

This victory wouldn’t have been possible just a year ago but Trump has effectively flipped the 9th Circuit, once one of the most liberal (and overturned) courts in the land.
