Bill Kristol is about as insidious and underhanded of a character as there is in politics. He’s currently running several left-wing funded, anti-Trump projects that cross the border into unhinged lunacy. He’s also recently pronounced himself a Democrat in order to fight the orange man. It’s one thing to abstain out of principle. It’s another to promote a party that is supposedly the antithesis of everything you claim to stand for because you don’t like mean tweets.

The problem for Kristol? His new party is on track to nominate a communist as their nominee and he’s not too happy about it. Just as he sought to try to influence the nomination process in 2016 for Republicans, Kristol is now taking a more direct roll in the 2020 Democratic primary.

This via the New Hampshire Journal.

GOP-leaning independent voters in New Hampshire are receiving phone calls and texts from anti-Trump Republicans urging them to cross the aisle and vote in the Democratic primary on Tuesday, NHJournal has learned. The message is for these unaffiliated voters, who can vote in either party’s primary, to vote for a “responsible and electable” Democratic alternative to Donald Trump.

National #NeverTrump leader Bill Kristol, founder of the conservative Weekly Standard magazine, confirmed to NHJournal that he is part of the effort, which involves tens of thousands of New Hampshire voter contacts and a six-figure budget.

“Yup. I’m happy to have joined with some others to help remind New Hampshire independents, who might be accustomed to voting in the Republican primary, that this year, they may be able to make more of a difference by voting for a responsible and electable candidate in the Democratic primary,” Kristol said.

This is reminiscent of Republican calls to try to get Bernie Sanders nominated and none of is good. Let the people actually wanting to vote for their party pick their nominee. I felt that way in 2008 when Rush was pushing “Operation Chaos” and I feel that way now, not out of sense of morality (it’s politics, who cares?), but because I’d rather each party just give the country an honest choice. If that means a crusty old commie for the Democrats because that’s what they want, then let’s do it and see how the American people respond.

But Kristol is forever trying to make himself the king of smokey back rooms, whether it’s his low-trafficked (but flush with left-wing cash) “The Bulwark” site or the several Super PACs he has his hands in that run anti-Trump mush nonstop.

Unfortunately for the former Republican icon, Kristol looks to be on a road toward failure again. Biden has crumbled to 4th place in New Hampshire and it’s unlikely he’s faring much better in Nevada. Kristol may have switched parties, but he’s simply brought upon himself a new version of failure. People simply don’t buy his brand of “conservatism” anymore, which is light on fiscal sanity, tepidly pro-abortion, and big on foreign wars. He’s a relic of the past that isn’t coming back.

But instead of enjoying retirement, he’s going to keep chasing his delusions of grandeur. I have a feeling most Democrats aren’t going to appreciate it anymore than Republicans did in 2016.
