I’ve always liked Rand Paul. Unlike a lot of Republicans, I think his isolationist bent is a good counterbalance within a party that far too often falls into foreign miscalculations (and no one can really claim he was “wrong” about Syria and Iraq).
Paul has also been a long-term, consistent fighter against the machinations of government bureaucracies. That was on display today when he bucked all the Democrat and media teeth-gnashing to put Eric Ciaramella (the “whistle-blower”) on blast from the Senate floor.

Yes, that’s Eric Ciaramella’s name blazoned on the placard Paul is using during his floor speech. This will no doubt lead to lots of screaming later today, but this needed to be done.
Ciaramella is not a “whistle-blower.” He filed a complaint with the ICIG, who didn’t even have jurisdiction over the decision made by President Trump involving Ukraine. Further, Ciaramella is a partisan who has significant ties to the Obama White House. All of that needs to be dealt with, not covered and up hidden.
Hilariously, CSPAN zoomed in to cover up Ciaramella’s name after they realized it was on the board, once again showing the sheer level of bias present in the media.
The fact is that there’s no legal statute to protect this guy’s identity. Good for Paul for sticking his finger in the eye of those who’d seek to pretend one exists.
